Meet Walter! Walter is a Beautiful dog looking for a loving home. It’s hard to believe someone would leave Walter behind. That someone was his family, who had him since he was a puppy. They moved away and left him. No food or water for him. Left in a cold wet field, next to his fenced house.  A kind mail carrier fed him when she could. Her coworker knew Walter’s from  11/2–2 years prior, a little puppy. She remembers when she first saw him, when the family got the puppy. The workers were very shocked that they had left Walter behind.   I received a call that a dog was in bad shape, and very depressed. They didn’t think the dog would last much longer. He had been there 3 weeks and no one had came back for him. So I went up to the Dogs location and I could not believe what I was seeing. A handsome guy who could hardly walk, because he was so weak. He was so happy to see someone and still wagged his tail . He had to be picked up to be placed in the car. He was hungry, but very thirsty. He was dirty from being outside in the field. He was also very cold. He had been left in the rain and the foggy weather. I covered Walter with blankets, and he went to sleep. He never moved while we drove home. We went to my groomer for a nice warm bath. One ear had a horrible infection. The smell was so bad. Within a few days we got him a vet appointment. The smell was so bad that it needed attention right away. Surgery was scheduled. We had no choice but to get the ear  flushed, cleaned out, and there was a piece that needed to be sewn up. Walter’s did great. The ear is healed and the infection is gone. He is happy and active. He walks great on a leash, loves to play ball. He plays really well with kids. My grandkids love to see him. He also likes to be touched. He will touch you with his paw for more loving, hugs are his favorite thing .  The fosters are an older couple. They have Walter house trained. He goes to the door to go pee and poop. He has never went pee in the house. There are three very small dogs in the house, who Walter tries to play with. But they are older. They don’t want to be bothered by him . The couple always keeps food, separate and picked up. So there are no food problems between all the dogs. Walter will eat in the morning and night. He goes out and does his business and sleeps through the night.  There is also a feral cat Walter  has seen in the yard - that the fosters feed. Foster said he really doesn’t care about the cat. At the groomers I noticed a cat on their counter. I did think no not a cat, but Walter put his nose on her nose, and that was it.  I’m not saying, he’s totally cat friendly. But he did not go after the cat at the groomers.  He rides good in the car. every appointment he is in the back area and lays down. No barking or crying. He will reach around to kiss my granddaughter on the cheek. Walter needs someone who wants to take him on walks, play ball, and he enjoys TV.  He has become a great house dog. I think he appreciates being inside. He would make a great addition to a family. Right now, Walter is in the older Foster’s home. They try their best to take him out in the front yard but for very short periods of time. He doesn’t  get the exercise he needs.               Walter is fixed and vaccinated.  He is a young and happy dog.  Walter’s would love to find his forever home! Meet Leo! Leo is a  bright blue eye guy, was found wandering the Stockton streets. Was pretty scruffy and underweight. Leo is roughly 2 years old. Not sure what he has been through or his story but he has definitely kept his sunny disposition on life and with people. With time and patience to settle in, he now plays well with both of our pups. This handsome guy is a sweetheart. He loves long walks, sniffing around the park, playing around with our dogs outside, loves bones and chew toys and is quite the cuddle bug. He has a big heart to give to anyone that is ready to except it. He knows basic commands, and is learning recall. Leo is neutered, up to date on shots and chipped. He deserves a second chance. Bill is honestly an easy mellow guy who is very sweet. He loves bones and chews, he is very treat motivated, is super loving, and just wants to be near his person. He is content to lay at his people’s feet if they are working or watching TV and just hang out. He really is a good boy. When Bill left the shelter they listed him at about 62 pounds, I would bet he has put on a few pounds and will be close to 75 when he is filled in. Bill is currently living with and getting along with cats, a young dog, and an older dog (both large breeds). He was extremely interested in the cats when he first arrived in his foster home but after about a week he had gotten used to them. One of the resident cats is not nice and swats at Bill but he has never retaliated. If a cat runs through the room Bill wants to run after them but he immediately responds to a firm “no” from humans.  He knows "sit",  “outside”, will come when you whistle, and is working on "come" and "lay down".  He is hoiusetrained. Bill is fearful of objects coming over him so he is frightened still by the leash (although much improved) but once it is on, he is ready to go! He walks fairly well on a leash, he doesn’t pull but does get excited when he sees people or animals. Bill sleeps in a crate in the room with his foster parents every night without complaint. Bill has met two children under five who are experienced and well behaved around dogs (foster parents’ niece and nephew). He greeted them cautiously when they first arrived and sat for pets. He was pretty uninterested in them.  show less

Meet Daphne! Daphne, a young Female Dutch Shepherd mix, who definitely knows her name.   She has the basic commands of come, sit and lay down, We are working on stay.  At meal time she quietly sits waiting for her bowl.  With time she will not inhale her food thinking someone else will get it.  I can put my hand in her bowl without her being aggressive it.  Loves treats and takes them gently with when put in an open hand.  Daphne is crated at night and during the day while I’m at work.  I put a bone in her crate that is smeared with natural peanut butter as she is content!  I leave the door to her crate open and she goes inside to hang out, safe space. Potty trained- as soon as I let her out of the crate she heads outside and does her business, praising her for good potty outside.  Loves toys of all kinds - her goal is to remove the squeaker.  Heavy duty toys for her is a big plus.  Loves to have her belly rubbed. The leash, if she sees the car she puts the brakes on and hard to move her towards it.  Taking small steps with her wearing the leash and being in the backyard. She is fine with the other dogs she has met, the only barking or sounds from her is when you leave her out of the crate, she’s excited you are there. dult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. Meet Macy! Lovely miss Macy. Macy is a gentle soul in a playful puppy body. She is calm and cautious before coming into anything unfamiliar. Macy is very affectionate and asks for loves in the sweetest ways. She has a 17 year old feline foster sister that she is very respectful of. She has two big canine foster brothers that she adores and always wants to snuggle and kiss. Her favorite family member by far is her 4 year old human foster sister. She lights up and her little tail starts going as soon as she enters the room. Macy is a playful puppy but doesn’t have rambunctious energy when playing with her favorite little girl. She would do great in a home with young or older kids as she loves snuggles from her teenage human foster brother as well. Macy loves her rubber toys the most and is crate trained and pee pad trained and very responsive to verbal correction. She would make a great addition to any home with her easy going nature. Meet Mickie! A little bit about Mickie.... Mickie no longer likes to be an outside dog. Her favorite spot is right by you. Whether you are folding clothes or working on your computer, she is there. She crates well when you are gone, but really doesn't need to be crated. She does well waiting for you to return home. She simply waits by the door or on the couch watching for your return. Mickie loves her walks.  She does lovely on the leash, although I usually let her drag the leash as she stays right by me. She has no reactivity at all when out and about. Mickie knows all her basic commands. Still working on stay.  Mickie does not know she has three legs, and plays and runs so well!  We believe she is around 4 years old. Mickie loves to play with toys now. Never chews them up, but tosses and enjoys them.  Mickie will make an amazing companion. She actually would love a companion herself. She loves her humans. Mickie is dog, kid, adult, and cat friendly dog.  Mickies favorite place is on her back on the couch right next to you. She truly is the perfect dog.
