I am an approximately 2 year old boy that came into Calpaws after I was sleeping on the side of the road and I was hit by a car. I had been on that road about a year. But After a 7 night stay in the hospital I had to lose my front leg, it had been sliced so far back it sliced the nerve I couldn’t feel it, but it’s ok because it was in my way anyways. I am doing GREAT and now looking for my forever home! I am looking for a home with people who want to love me lots because I like love! I am good with kids, cats, dogs! I am actually TERRIFIED of my foster moms tripod cat! He looks at me and I run! I am not looking for a family that wants to do a lot of adventure, maybe some coffee dates, maybe a movie on the coach. I bond with my people hard. If your looking for a more laid back kinda guy I am that guy! As far as future medical once this side gets my stitches out I should have nothing to follow up on! So click adopt and my people will get back to you! We can not stress enough, learn your breeds. Not every dog breed is meant to be in every home. Do your research. We would like to introduce Ezle, the 3 month old tripod. Ezle came into the Oakland Animal Shelter with a crushed leg, the leg was amputated and he is adjusting very well to life as a tripod.was starving, just skin and bones, and had several injuries to my face. Please note: We are a small rescue and do not have the resources to respond to inquiries. If a dog is on our website, it is still available. We can not arrange meet & greet without an application. We are not a shelter and do not have a facility. All our dogs are in foster homes. Ezle is a 3.5 month old German Shepherd Mix and he has three legs. He has the most amazing attitude of “I can do it!” and he most certainly can!! Ezle came from the Oakland Animal shelter. He came in with a broken leg probably from being hit by a car. The damage was too severe to his leg and it had to be removed. We were asked if we could take him. It is common knowledge that we will find the most amazing home where his peeps will be as special as he is. It does take a certain person (s) to overlook the obvious flaw, but realize that this is what makes Ezle beautiful! He will always have a special place and he might even help you realize that being “handicapped” is quite often the mindset in your head! Ezle has spent the last few weeks hanging with his foster sisters, puppies from another mother and learning that they also see past his missing leg. To them he is another puppy that they can play with and they sure play hard. He has flourished and now he is ready for his next part of his journey. Ezle is vaccinated, neutered, he is housetrained, crate trained and he is very smart! He is good with other dogs and he is an amazing cuddler. He can struggle onto the couch, but he is a puppy and he will perfect this task along with climbing the stairs. Please research this breed before filling out an application. Possible options include walks around the block, a good game of fetch or staring at you fondly. All kidding aside Cher is a great dog who previously has had a few litters of pups, so we feel it’s her turn to relax and be taken care of. She is fine with other dogs (mostly ignores them) but is really looking to spent quality time by your side soaking up all the affection you have. He will even hide under the table for a few minutes until he feels safe to come out. Charlie didn’t have the best start in life so he is slowly learning to trust that he is safe and loved. Frida is an approximately 7-month old female German Shepherd. She was found with her littermate Susie on the street in West Oakland during a major storm. While she was a bit timid with people at first, she warmed up quickly to both humans and other dogs. Frida is an incredibly affectionate dog - she loves to cuddle up with her foster parents for belly rubs and head scratches. Frida has a lot of energy and plays well with other dogs (she could do well in a home with other dogs). She's also an intelligent girl - she didn't know any commands when she came to her foster home, but is a fast learner and picked up "sit" after just a few days. While she is not entirely house broken yet, she is learning quickly and is having fewer and fewer accidents. She appears to be crate trained and will frequently retreat to her crate on her own during the day. We can not stress enough, learn your breeds. Not every dog breed is meant to be in every home. She would make a great running partner or someone who would want an agility partner. She loves to play and have fun but also knows when it’s time for cuddles. At first she may take some time to warm up but once she does she’s a shadow. She is a tiny 40 pounds, she loves her GIANT foster siblings (Great Danes) and the other German shepherd foster sibling. She knows her place in the pack as the new kid. We don’t believe that she would do well with cats. She would do ok with kids definitely with super vision while she’s getting settled in. Nova came to us from Dublin Animal Service. She came in as a stray chipped to an owner who never came for her. We are happy she’s here and looking for her forever home. Susie is an approximately 7-month old female German Shepherd. She was found with her littermate Frida on the street in West Oakland during a major storm. Susie has a strong personality and exhibited some alpha characteristics while housed with her sister. Despite her dominant personality, she generally plays well with other dogs. She is also very affectionate with people and will frequently snuggle up to her foster parents and beg for belly rubs. She is picking up some commands like "sit" quickly, but is still working on house training and her general manners (jumping, etc). She's a very sweet girl who will do well in a caring home. Hey everyone! I'm Moose. I'm 12-18 months old, and I've been living with my foster family in Lake Tahoe for the last two weeks. I'm full of love, quick to cuddle and like going on adventures. I'm good with dogs - especially big dogs like the two I've been living with - but I'm still learning how to be gentle with small dogs. I haven't been around a cat yet. I will need crate training and obedience training, but I've been receptive to training so far. I already learned "sit" and "down"! My ideal home would be with someone who works from home, or a house that has people around most of the day, and has another dog that I can play with. I have been left a lot in my life so I really like being with my people and pleasing them. If you think you might be them please reach out to my people here at calpaws! Meet Radar, a 10 month old Belgian Malanois. This boy loves to cuddle and be by your side. Radar was rescued from a compacted shelter where he stayed in a small kennel for over a month. On his first day at his foster home he was a bit shy but showed that he was grateful to be there. Please note: We are a small rescue and do not have the resources to respond to inquiries. If a dog is on our website, it is still available. We can not arrange meet & greet without an application. We are not a shelter and do not have a facility. All our dogs are in foster homes. Meet Radar, a 10 month old Belgian Malanois. This boy loves to cuddle and be by your side. Radar was rescued from a compacted shelter where he stayed in a small kennel for over a month. On his first day at his foster home he was a bit shy but showed that he was grateful to be there. He loves people and children and wants to be with them all the time. Radar instantly greeted and played with the 5 dogs at the home. He showed interest in the livestock and showed his inquisitiveness with new things. Within two days of coming to his foster home he was walked in the Livermore Christmas Parade. He handled the lights, sounds, and people like he’d done it a million times. There is definitely something special about this boy. Even though Radar is a complete love bug, he is still true to his breed. When he is determined nothing can stop him, like being in a crate when the other dogs are loose. He is strong and athletic. He is house trained and has been spending his days outside with the other dogs and livestock but enjoys sleeping on his cozy bed inside the house at night. Radar would be best in a home with no small children as he can mock them over. He does great with his foster kids (10 and 12 years old). Cats are not recommended, but have not been tested. We know Apollo is at least 6 years old and he has not had an easy life. He was surrendered to the Oakland shelter. Little was shared about his background. We know he lived much of his life is a back yard or a crate. His front leg is slightly deformed and X-rays shows an untreated break. His font K9 teeth no longer exist and are nubs in his gums. The rest of the teeth have received no care.  Please note: We are a small rescue and do not have the resources to respond to inquiries. If a dog is on our website, it is still available. The rest of the teeth have received no care.  Apollo is very loyal, he can be picky about who he trusts and he is wary of strangers. Apollo is a true rescue. He has been abused and needs a home where that is understood. When he trusts he is amazing. He is funny, sweet, playful, but he needs to be handled in a specific way.  Apollo is fully vaccinated and neutered. He does have a trainer that comes with him for integrating him into a new household. Apollo is attached to his current foster and the resident dog so we know with the change he will need some help with the transition.  Apollo loves to go on walks, he loves playing fetch and will gladly play for hours.  Apollo is looking for a person(s) who understand his past and are kind and patience with him. He is active, and is willing to please. He is a good dog and has formed an amazing bond with his foster mom. He does have some arthritis and receives medication to help with his bad leg.  Apollo is dog friendly with a proper introduction. He is a good dog, just needing a chance to show his wonderful personality. The perfect family to adopt of foster would be experienced with abused dogs. Will understand that he needs a bit of time to acclimate, but the rescue and his trainer will help with getting a routine and getting him acclimated with his new home. His current foster would love to keep him, but since she is moving to Italy she is unable to keep him, unless someone would be willing to do a long term foster.  If you are interested in meeting this dog, please review our adoption process and then fill out an online adoption form at https://www.calpaws.org/adopting.
