Meet Tango! Tango is the most wonderful and affection sweetheart of a boy! Give him some cuddles and he is in heaven! He loves playing with his sisters and the resident dogs. He is very respectful of the other dogs and has easily fallen in with the pack at his current fosters house. Tango is confident but not pushy, he will do well with another dog to help him continue to grow and master his little puppy manners. Adopters must have experience with the breed and be willing to put in the training needed for the breed. Tango is available for adoption and is ready to start his new lifelong adventure as the best companion dog! Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Our dogs are spayed/neutered and a registered chip. For our puppies they are up to date on vaccinations. Once adopted it is the new owner’s responsibility to continue the remaining vaccinations with a veterinarian. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. He is confident and sure of himself and is always first in line to greet new friends. Tito is available and awaiting his forever home now! Meet Zin, the German Shepherd with a heart as big as his paws and a loppy ear that is sure to win you over. When he’s not lounging in the sun, he’s busy playing with his German Shepherd foster brother and spreading joy wherever he goes. We’ve estimated him to be around 1 year old. He is house broke and great with other dogs. He's not too sure about cats but could be cat workable. He is very affectionate, loyal, active, and incredibly smart. At the moment he only knows how to sit, but he was taught that in 30 min, a very smart boy! Zin loves to cuddle, especially with his human foster sister, he’s a big fan of kids. He itches to go on a good walk and spend time with his human people. He is a sucker for a good belly rub and all the love. Zin would do best in a home with older kids who are ready to give him attention and play time, one without Rabbits or other small animals would also be good, we believe he chased them in his past life. It would be great if his new family had some room to run and get all his puppy energy out too. Zin is a special boy with a heart of gold. If you can open your home and your heart to this loveable guy, you’ll be rewarded with unconditional love and devotion. If you’re Intrested in Zin please head to www.calpaws.org to fill out an application. show less

Meet Bruce! Bruce is a very handsome hunk, super affectionate and sweet. The shelter think he is 6 years old, but with his fun demeanor and strong ball drive, he's more like a 4-year-old. Here is what he has to say: "Hi there!! My name is Bruce (like Bruce Wayne - Batman). I have just met you but I already love you! My foster mom says that makes me a terrible watchdog, but can you blame me? You're amazing! Do you want to see my toys? I love to play, especially fetch! I love chewing on my bone for a minute and taking a nap, preferably on something soft like the couch or a pillow in my crate. Is that the leash? Yes! I would love to go for a walk! I like to smell everything, so I usually take my time enjoying everything outside. I am great about not chasing squirrels when we walk, even though I really want to. I love treats, food is my favorite thing; I’m also obsessed with squeaky balls. I really love to meet dogs, people and I especially love children. Oh! You sat down! Perfect, now I can sit on your lap. If I sits, I fits!" Bruce is a super sweet boy and has been enjoying his life in his foster home with his foster doggy sister, foster parents and two foster human kiddos. He’s house trained and he loves his neighborhood walks. He loves his humans, so he follows Foster Mom around the house to make sure she isn’t getting into any trouble. After a game of Fetch, he will gladly chill watching Netflix. Bruce loves to be pet, he will gladly accept belly rubs while relaxing on the couch. He plays very nicely with dogs of any size; he doesn’t bark. show less

Meet Clyde. Back in June, Clyde was found alone and limping in an orchard, after a lot of coordination Clyde was able to make it out of the shelter and into the orthopedic surgeons office where the estimated that Clyde's leg had been broken for 2 weeks! The hard decision was made to amputate the leg as infection had set in and the muscles had begun healing around the break. Clyde being the fun, goofy boy he is did not even skip a beat. He is living his best life and doesn't even care that he is a tripod. He loves meeting new people and being the center of attention. He is all healed up and ready to find his forever home!! Clyde is about a year and half and is a beautiful GSD mix. This is one special boy! show less

Max is a wonderful 2 year old boy who abandoned at a cemetery. His finder commented what a good boy he was, quietly laying on the grass and obviously friendly. It's a wonder a dog so nice could end up on the euthanasia list at the San Jose Animal Care Center. We learned of Max's story, and that he'd been at the shelter for 6 months, and with only days left before euthanasia we knew we'd have to intervene. Affectionately called Matty by his foster, Max is a love. He is loyal and protective. Understanding the shepherd breed with Max is key. He needs an alpha to help him feel secure and loved. Max likes slow introductions allowing him to come to you. He likes to start of slow, but once he knows you he is a hundred percent loving and a Velcro dog for sure. He loves to be petted. He is incredible off leash and on leash. He is good with other dogs, but does better with a more secure and alpha dog. He wants to please so he is great to work with and minds very well. He travels well in the car. He is house trained and crate trained, but he can be left out of the crate unattended for good amounts of time and not destroy or get into anything. He is a really good dog, a little insecure but a good dog. show less
