S is a wonderful little puppy - just getting to know the big world around her. She is curious (Is that a hummingbird? This grass is so cool and delicious! Look at that airplane!), playful (can amuse herself or play endlessly with her older dog friend), shares well, cuddles even better. Her attitude is SUNNY - everything is a great possibility for fun. She exhibited no fear or shyness in really any situation, even at the vet. She was very sociable with my older dog, and was dying to meet other dogs (but I kept her away as she was not fully vaccinated). S is also very open to new people, running to meet visitors to the house, not barking or scared. She was a little too curious about my cat, and while they sniffed noses, Sunny was wanting more (play, no doubt) that the cat was not interested in. However the encounters always ended in a chase of dog after cat, so any future interactions should be monitored. (My cat did bat the puppy once with her paw, and that seemed to chill things out for a couple of days, but then it was back to the chase!) A typical day was up at 6 am, go outside to pee-pee and smell the flowers. Back inside, have a little snack and then go back to sleep for an hour in her crate (the crate was covered with a blanket, has a comfy dog bed inside, and was big enough to stretch out) next to her older buddy dog. Breakfast was around 8 am, and time for a bathroom break. Then a walk around 830 - it was really more a “sniff time” with the older dog. Everything was so interesting and exciting to her - cars, people, trees, birds! Then back home, and time to nap in her crate till about noon. Outside to pee then, have a little play session including races up and down the driveway, then practice the commands of sit, down, and shake. She is also learning “drop it” and “leave it” but it will be awhile till those sink in. Around 1 PM she went back in her crate, and was napping till about 4 Pm. Now it is serious playtime with the big dog, and just general playtime outside and inside. If it wasn’t too hot, she went for another walk. Then dinner around 6 or 7 pm. After dinner it was outside bathroom time, then play. She was most playful at this time of the day, developing “zoomies” and other cute antics. If she got a bit too excited, and riled up the older dog too much, it was time for a 15 minute calm down in the trusty crate or a different room. By 9 pm or so, she is tired and ready to sleep for the night. She goes out again to the bathroom, and then beds down in her crate and sleeps till about 6 am. She went to her crate willingly at night, and seemed to feel very comfortable and safe there. She was doing very well with her house training. She has never pooped inside, and will go pee-pee almost on command in the yard. One just has to be vigilant about timing her pees - after sleeping, after playing, or at least once an hour or so. She is also a great snacker! She is very food-motivated at her age, but this may change. Her diet consisted of puppy chow, mixed with a bit of cooked meat (chicken, ground beef). I may have developed her palate a bit more than necessary - she was more found of the meat than just kibble by the time she left. In general, she is a perfect puppy with lots of potential to grow into the perfect dog! I hope she finds a super-duper forever-home that can give her the time, attention and love she so deserves. Adoption fees: Puppies up to 1 year: $450.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Being a foster is such a rewarding experience. If you are interested please review https://www.calpaws.org/fostering
