Sloane is happiest when she is free to lounge in the sun, on the dog bed, the couch (she will gladly listen to you if couch is a no no in your home) and sleeping next to my youngest son. She wants to be the leader and she is the absolute BEST guard dog. She loves her people and her pack. She is currently living in a home with three children (7yrs, 11yrs and 13yrs old). I think she would be happy in a family home or happy in a single or two person home. She wouldn’t mind as long as she gets a lot of love. She is not needy but she appreciates attention. She lives along side 3 female dogs, 4 cats (ignores them) a Guinea pig, bearded dragon and two birds. She does so gracefully. She is a very mellow girl but would love a home where she can still get out and enjoy life. I’m guessing there are still many firsts for this sweet mama. While she does live nicely with my pack, she is an alpha female, even with very submissive dogs. She needs a slow introduction and a strong and confident handler to be able to have a smooth interaction. She could live with another dog or two but I do think she would thrive as the only dog in the home. I have loved the slow pace of this mama, she is a lovely lady. Potty trained Crate trained Non destructive Quiet unless guarding Does not jump Walks nicely on leash Loves car rides Good listener Cat Friendly Kid Friendly Cute curly tail full of wags  To find out about fostering or adopting please send an email to cpk9rescue@gmail.com or go online to CalPaws.org XL large breed dogs (90 lbs. plus): $500 Puppies and dogs up to 1 year old: $450 Dogs over 1 and under 6 years old: $400 show less

Hi there! We are snicker and doodle! These 2 loves are now available for adoption! They really do well in all environments. They love kids, dogs, and playing chase! They were born October 29th. We were told they are king shepherd mixed. So these gals will be large most likely. We can not stress enough, learn your breeds. Not every dog breed is meant to be in every home. Do your research. A dog breed should reflect your home and lifestyle. Please research this breed before filling out an application. This is not a beginners dog. He is a super smart, curious, funny, energetic puppy who needs regular exercise and dog pals to play with. Bandit was trained to stay away from chickens in one day. He is crate trained, potty trained, food motivated and has a lot to say!    In the evening he loves to watch tv lying next to his foster mom before falling asleep. Because he’s a bit mouthy, he would do best in a home with older kids. He will make someone a sensational pet and loyal member of the family. Old Lady?   No way!  Don’t let the white muzzle fool you, Dakota is a lively senior shepherd mix!  We are just getting to know this girl, but we already know she is AMAZING!   Dakota was dumped at the shelter in Tulare in early December and was put on the Euthanasia list.  CalPaws was notified in late December and volunteers swooped in to save her.   Dakota is adjusting nicely to her foster home, and is is absolutely a dog who bonds quickly.  She likes to be close to you in the house or outside with you playing with her tennis ball  Introductions are easy!  Grown ups and little kiddos are greeted with a sniff, a kiss of the hand (or face) and then she moves along.  With other dogs, she greets from the side, an appropriate sniff and then one bark before she continues on her walk.  Silly girl! Commands?  Yes! She knows sit, down and spin solidly.  We are working on wait - she does it well when a treat is involved.  Further training will be easy as she is very food motivated.  She gets super excited at her meal times and does a little dance on her hind legs while her food is prepped.  Prey drive?  Yes!  She loves a good squirrel chase.   She is possibly cat workable / we have two feisty cats who like to hiss and make a fuss and to Dakota that means the chase is on!  She walks well on leash with a standard collar.  There is some pulling at times, but she does well with correction. We’ve done a 30 min walk in the morning and evenings and that seems to be about right - she is ready to be home.  show less
