**Meet Gigi** – A Little Dog with a Big Story! Gigi is a small terrier mix with a heart full of love and a story to tell. She first caught the attention of the community in Livermore when she was spotted navigating a busy intersection, lost and alone. Concerned citizens kept an eye on her, and with the help of Calpaws K9 Rescue volunteers, she was safely trapped and taken to the local shelter for her stray hold. We were thrilled when one of her rescuers decided to adopt her directly from the shelter. But unfortunately, Gigi's new journey hit a bump when her new family's dogs didn't welcome her with open paws. Knowing that Gigi deserved a better fit, she was lovingly turned over to Calpaws. Now in a foster home, Gigi is decompressing beautifully. We estimate that she’s around 2-3 years old. This little terrier mix is ready to find a forever home where she can finally relax and be the cherished companion she’s meant to be. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart, Gigi might just be the perfect match for you! Giigi is approximatley 15 lbs. show less

He does well with kids and doesn’t shy away from a kiddo who wants to play tug of war or chase. Gus is working on house training and he goes immediately once he gets outside. Gus is getting better at sleeping through the night. Gus likes to sniff the indoor cats, but hasn’t done much else to them. show less

Meet Hazel! A sweet and soft 6 month old girl. Hazel - or we playfully call her, Hazel Basil - This sweet angel may be a little shy when you first meet her, but she quickly warms up. Hazel is incredibly smart as she knows how to sit, lay down, and high-five. She does well with other dogs, and is curious about cats so she is continually being trained and exposed. She does not have much exposure to young children, but the time that she did, the loud noises and energy appeared to be a lot for her as she was found observing afar while lying in her crate. Hazel spends most of her days inside, enjoying the A/C while chewing on her favorite toy or playing with her foster dog brother. Hazel is potty trained and eats very well. For a puppy, Hazel’s energy level can be described as low to medium as she is often lounging with her foster family, but can be playful and get the zoomies every so often (especially when she is with other dogs). Hazel is crate-trained as she does experience some FOMO (fear of missing out) when crated at times during the day, but is ultimately able to self-soothe and nap peacefully, and sleeps soundly in her crate at night as long as she sees that you are close by. Hazel does need additional training and redirection as she will show you her puppy tendencies of chewing on things other than her toys. Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Our dogs are spayed/neutered and a registered chip. For our puppies they are up to date on vaccinations. Once adopted it is the new owner’s responsibility to continue the remaining vaccinations with a veterinarian. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Meet Heron! Heron is a sweetest little boy! He absolutly adores children and will follow his people from room to room. He came into Calpaws when he was only a few days old without his mother. Him and his sister have been bottle fed, and loved on everyday by people of all ages. Heron does well in the car during daily school drop offs. He loves to play with his toys, and is always up for a game of tug! When he is tired he will put himself to bed on his bed or will cuddle on the couch with you. He is doing good at potty training and is crate trained. Heron will make an absolute wonderful family dog and a great companion. Hunni is a sweet, friendly, happy, well adjusted 1 year old German Shepherd. Hunni loves loves to play fetch and retrieve toys. It's her favorite game! She is completely potty trained, crate trained, knows sit, shake and is learning “down” and “stay”. She is super dog friendly and greets people with happiness. She sleeps through night and has no allergy or medical issues. She loves treats but does need some encouragement to eat her meals (she can easily be distracted). She’s thin and we are working on adding a little weight. She is also great with the resident cat! Hunni is learning how to walk better on leash and not jumping up when excited (she’s a gentle jumper but still can get hyped up when we come home). Hunni would do best with a family that loves to snuggle her and committed to go on walks everyday. She needs activity and would appreciate another dog in the family to either play with or keep her company. She does get a little nervous when left alone although has not been destructive at all. show less

Jasper has led an exciting life for his first 6 months! He was part of an owner surrender litter and became a loved foster puppy. He found out that he was 100% German Shepherd through his DNA! He knows all his basic commands and will “stay” even when distracted or when treats are thrown next to him and he walks well on a leash. He is trained to respect free range chickens and cats. Jasper is good with kids but due to his size would do best with kids 8 or over. He is happy exploring outside but also happy lounging with his people! Jasper enjoys playing with his foster’s 3 big dogs and two other foster puppies. He is such a good, beautiful boy with so much love and cuddles to give. He’s going to be a big boy but has a very sweet disposition and is eager to please. Jasper is treat motivated and very intelligent. He sleeps all night in his crate, is housetrained and is fully vaccinated and neutered. Jasper wants to find someone to love him in a forever home! Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Looking for a lap dog to snuggle the day away? Meet Koa! This guy loves people! Koa enjoys to sit back and watch what's happening. He loved wrestling and chasing his sisters and tagging along on their adventures. He immediately took to a new dog in a temporary foster home with chill kisses and a ready to play demeanor. Back at home, Koa and his siblings love their crate and put themselves to bed when they’re tired. He's already on his way to having great recall and good with their MUCH larger resident pack. Little miss Kylie. Enough cannot be said about the temperament of this sweet girl. She is the kind that when you carry her, she wraps her little paws around your arm in a bear hug and smooshes her whole face into your neck. Kylie can be a bit scared jn a new environment. She clings to her person and looks to them for guidance and reassurance. While Kylie is very well behaved with other dogs, she is also okay just sitting in your lap and giving you sweet kisses while you tell her what a pretty girl she is. Kylie was apprehensive meeting a cat for the first time, but gradually worked her way over to him and got a few nose kisses in return for her bravery. She will be a wonderful and snuggly dog when she finds her forever family. Kylie is house broken and crate trained. She loves her naps curled up with a stuffed animal and blanket. She is quiet and observant when there is activity in the house. Kylie would prefer to be in a household with another doggie friend. Kylie will make a wonderful addition to any family and is looking forward to meeting her furever family! show less

Meet Mac! Our Mac AKA Mac attack. Mac is a fun, loving and affectionate boy. He loves all his humans the same and doesn’t play favorites. He’s a typical playful puppy who’s always down for a good time. Mac lives with a 17 year old feline foster sister who he shows some interest in but if he tries to push the limits, which is rare, he immediately responds to the cats correction. He loves his canine foster brothers and playtime with them. Mac lives with a teen human brother and a 4 year old human sister. He loves his four year old but is a typical puppy and will respond well to correction when he gets excited. He gives the best kisses and loves to be on your lap. Mac hasn’t met a toy he doesn’t love. He is crate trained and pee pad trained. Mac would do great in a home with kids of any age but if the kids are young then the adults need to be expecting typically puppy behavior and be on top of the corrections. He listens well and all the guy wants to do is play. Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Our dogs are spayed/neutered and a registered chip. For our puppies they are up to date on vaccinations. Madame Miley….what a character this girl is. She carries herself with air of royalty when she is prancing around the yard. She takes her role as the biggest sister very seriously, always leading the charge during outside playtime. Miley has the softest long coat with a little wave to it. She also has coined the phrase “puppy dog eyes” for her very own. One look at this girls sweet face will have your whole heart melting! Miley is a stronger personality when she is with her siblings, but with older dogs she is very respectful and well mannered. She was disinterested in meeting a cat, rather she played with her favorite crinkle toy instead. Miley would do wonderfully with an older dog to play with as long as they have the energy to match hers. She plays hard for about an hour and then naps peacefully in her crate. Miley is fully house broken and crate trained. She is ready for her perfect family to come look into her dreamy eyes and fall in love! show less

Meet Major! Our big Major man is just a love. He is super affectionate and will take as much as you will give him and then a little more. He marches to the beat of his own drum and is an independent little dude. Major is always off around the house looking for an adventure regardless of what the other dogs are doing but he has great recall. As soon as he hears his name he comes running. He is very respectful but somewhat curious of his 17 year old feline foster sister. Major loves to play with his littermates and doesn’t push limits with his big canine foster brothers. Major loves his 4 year old human foster sister but does need correction from time to time like the typical puppy. He is definitely the favorite of his teenage human foster brother and all his friends. Mealtime and snuggles are what he lives for right now. He is crate trained and pee pad trained. Major would do great as an only dog as he is definitely more human focused but I’m sure would attach to a dog buddy. A home with kids 4 years or older would probably be more ideal as he adores kiddos but may be a bit much for really small ones.
