Meet Toby Toby is an absolute sweetheart and a joy to have around. This inquisitive and eager-to-please little guy is always ready for an adventure, whether it's a leisurely long walk or a spirited mini run.   Here is a note from Toby's foster mom:   Toby is a cuddly, sweet, and playful pup. He’s food motivated and has picked up on his training quickly. He is a little nervous in new situations and with new people or dogs. We’re socializing him by teaching him when we go out, his job is to focus on whoever has his leash! Not everyone gets to pet him, he doesn’t get to meet every dog, his main goal is to sit or lay down patiently and hang out. He’s been doing very well.  Toby has been great with the resident three dogs (males, ages 7months - 4 years). He is a ladies man and tends to be slightly more pushy with girl dogs but he’s quick to take a correction and has a ball playing with dogs off leash.  He is potty trained, crate trained, he walks well on leash, rides well in the car, we’re working on recall (he has a Flexi leash for our hikes), he also knows sit, down, place, and we’re learning spin for a fancy heel. We’re working on come (he knows it at home but still gets a little distracted when we’re out and about).  He is very chill in the house. Considerably lazy for his breed. He naps throughout the day, is always down for a walk, and wants to snuggle at all times.  Toby’s met children and does well with them, he loves them!  He would be great for a multitude of people. He loves to walk and hike, comes to a local brewery to hang out at his foster mom's feet while she works, and can be left home alone (after he’s decompressed in a new home, but he can also be in a crate for short periods). He’s an awesome, young, silly dog  show less

Cal Paws is delighted to introduce Blossom. Blossom comes to us from an overcrowded East Bay Shelter where shepherds are prevalent. This beautiful girl was at risk of euthanasia due to the shelter's overcapacity. After spending just one week in a foster home, it's evident why she has captured the hearts of the staff and volunteers. Blossom is a sweet and mellow two-year-old who adores balls, stuffed animals, walks, and spending time with her favorite people. Her calm demeanor makes her the perfect companion for chilly evenings, as she doubles as a foot warmer. Blossom has a mild energy level and enjoys daily walks of 30 minutes or hikes, followed by a well-deserved nap. Her calmnature makes her well-suited for a family environment, and she would thrive in a small home or townhome. When given yard access, she prefers to be indoors, where she enjoys snuggling, chewing on her toys, and spending quality time with her people. Blossom is highly sociable and exhibits warmth and friendliness towards everyone she encounters. Reports indicate that she has lived with children, which is not surprising given her gentle and composed disposition.   Blossom is not fond of cats and is still adjusting to sharing her foster mom's attention with other resident dogs in the foster home. While she is polite and walks well with other dogs, her adaptability to new circumstances is outstanding, having recently transitioned from the shelter to being spayed into a foster home with other animals. She is fully house-trained, is not destructive when left alone, is crate-trained, knows down, sits, and loves catching balls. She also knows her name and will come. Her foster family plans to work on coming from a distance and stay. This beautiful strawberry-blond girl has a heartwarming effect on everyone who meets her. In a world abundant with shepherds, Blossom truly stands out as an exceptional and loyal companion. show less

Meet Chet! Born on 4/19, these little loves have been well socialized from birth with kids of all ages! They are spunky at play time, but love a good nap in your lap or even cradled in your arms. They spend their days playing outside and learning to potty in designated areas, while inside they are already working on potty pad training as well. They’re also working on recall with basic hand signals and squeaky toys, and are gentle at taking treats from small hands. Their DNA includes Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, German Shepherd, and Australian Cattle Dog, so they will be exceptionally smart, very active, and loyal family dogs! Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Our dogs are spayed/neutered and a registered chip. For our puppies they are up to date on vaccinations.  Once adopted it is the new owner’s responsibility to continue the remaining vaccinations with a veterinarian. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in.    "Daisy is about 9-years old. A short backstory about Daisy: Sometime mid 2023, Daisy was abandoned at a boarding facility, where she gave birth to pups. Daisy and her puppies were rescued by Cal Paws; all of her pups have since been adopted. At an unknown time in the past, Daisy was hit by a car and suffered an injury resulting in a "blind" right eye.  So, lets tell you about the Daisy we have come to know since the middle of 2023: sweet, calm, and lovingly responsive to kindness.     Daisy's favorite activity includes her morning and evening walks; and a few times a week, Daisy wil walk out to the back yard and suddenly engage in zooming around the yard, lasting for about 30 seconds, and then relaxing and rolling around. Personal favorites are the occasional treat, chewy toys and frozen femur bones .... and car rides.    ●Daisy's "Not Fun" list: not a water dog; pickup the water hose to water the garden, Daisy will go the opposite way. She does not like hoses or squirt bottles of any kind. She will occasionally lay in the back yard area, in the sun, by herself but she does not like to be left alone outside. She will walk outside with you, but as soon as you return to the house Daisy will immediately follow; often being first at the door to walk in with you.  Daisy knows "come, sit, stay, down (for treats), wait, No, leave it, heel (during walks), and will go to her crate when motioning with your hand and saying "Crate".     Daisy's LEASH MANNERS are excellent.  Daisy is absolutely great with strangers and children; loves to chase squirrels and cats that run along the top of the yard fences. (Hasn't even come close to ever making contact with them).  Daisy's House Manners are excellent: calm and responsive. At eating time, Daisy will sit patiently until given the okay to eat from the bowl. At home or on a walk, Daisy rarely barks. And when she does, it's one bark in a reaction to something. For example, if someone knocks on the front door Daisy will yelp out one bark.  Daisy truly enjoys car rides: She will, of course, "'call out shot gun'" as she makes her way to the front seat but is easily sent to the back seat, where she is attached to a doggie safety-buckle. Daisy remains calm throughout travels, sometimes resting her head at the top corner of the front seat.   The ideal place for Daisy is a calm environment ... Daisy enjoys her naps and staying nearby wherever you may be.  Another dog who is calm and not anxious would add to the ideal home for Daisy. ... Daisy would be a great addition to any person and/or family, who would be very lucky to have Daisy in their presence."  show less

Meet Dax! Our sweet Dax boy is just an absolute joy. He has a little bit of it all. He is playful, smart and very affectionate. Dax loves being where his people are, already knows his daily routine and is very food motivated which is great for training. He loves his two big canine foster brothers and doesn’t show much interest in his senior feline foster sister. He adores his four year old and teen humans. He will be an amazing family dog as he makes connections with all his humans in his home and seems to prefer them all. Dax has brought a lot of love and smiles into our home. He knows and comes to  his name and loves bath time, especially when he is being held up by his from feet. Dax loves to snuggle and be in your lap on his back getting belly scratches. He is a major kisser so you better be into that. He will be loyal and excited to see you every time, even if he just saw you 30 seconds ago. Dax will thrive as an only dog or as an addition and will be amazing with kids of all ages. Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Our dogs are spayed/neutered and a registered chip.
