Update: A silly story from a silly 5 month old cat workable boy: Hi, guys good morning! I am up for breakfast, are you? Well, I probably should introduce myself before I talk about food. Silly me! Hi, I am Teddy (Bear) I am a strong 5-month-old warrior. Well ok maybe I am a German shepherd but warrior sounds so much better. I am soft and cuddly on the inside but strong on the outside. Hehe I was brought into calpaws a month or so ago from a place called…. Oakland Animal Service. Where a nice lady there called my peoples here and they came to my rescue. So since being here my peoples have learned lots about my warrior ness! (Foster mom: teddy you mean German shepherd puppy ness get it together tell the story right or I am kicking you off Facebook) Fine mom…. They have learned I LOVE the water, bathes, and exploring with my pack oh and stimulating toys. I love showing them I am smarter than the toys! Foster mom says I would do best in a home with older children and german shepherd experience because I am still learning my inside and people manners (jumping and mouthing). I just think it’s fun to play ok! I love to interact with new people. They always have some fun smells or get excited to see me! What’s not to love! I should tell you guys about my foster siblings they are dogs and a CAT! He tolerates my presents, I am not his favorite in the world but ehh it’s workable. I know lots of tricks in my knight and shining armor (foster mom: TEDDDDY!!!) I mean in my German shepherd ways. I know kennel, sit, down, come, and some more. If you would teach me more I promise to listen I just LOVE to learn! We’ll time to go finish my breakfast before my siblings eat it! Have a great day! I also love toys, even laneys soccer balls that I’m not supposed to touch🙄 I’m goofy and trip over my own feet and I love chest rubs… LOVE them. She is a very loyal dog and attaches herself to a family very quickly. For this reason we would like to get her into her forever home, even though she is still a little under weight. She would make a wonderful family dog. She does great around children, cats, and other dogs. We do recommend that she goes to a home with other dogs. At first he was timid and withdrawn, but within a couple days of socializing with His foster dog siblings male and female he came into his own. He loves play time, chasing the other dogs and doesn't show much prey drive with the squirrels that taunt him on the fence. Unknown on cats. His obedience is improving on lead and a work in progress off. He is great with both young kids and elderly. Duke has taken particular fondness to foster dads elderly mum and follows her everywhere. Duke would fit into any family situation and would adapt quicky. He loves the evening times when he tries to become a lap dog and share his attention and love. She has now opened and blossomed in her foster home.  Although she still is a little fearful, everyday is continuing to get better!  She will continue to need that extra love and kindness, reminding her that not all humans are mean. And with time she will continue to become happy self! She loves her foster fur siblings and does well with cats.  She is learning how to play with the other dogs and it is so cute to watch!  She loves to play fetch! She knows sit, paw, and is fully potty trained.  She loves her crate at night, but if left alone during the day she rather lay on the couch! She is a very mellow dog and loves to cuddle! Deltas favorite activity is playing and chasing her ball! She would play for hours! Along with her energy she also has a calm cuddly side. Which makes her so perfect! She will sit with a bully stick at night during tv time or on the couch right next to her foster mom. Delta does great at your foster home with their pack. We do not suggest a home with cats for her. This is Jag and it is almost 7 years and he has come back to me. A different rescue and a different story. Jag is a 7 year old black German Shepherd. Even though he is not young he still has plenty of energy. He loves to go on walks, play and loves getting lots of pets. Jag is good with other dogs as well as cats, but he can be a bit pushy with other dogs. If they are getting too excited, he tries to keep the other dogs in line. Jag is very mouthy and communicates a lot by being vocal. This boy is super sweet, he does not have a mean bone in his body. He wants to be with his hooman all the time. He is good when he is left by himself and he is not destructive. He walks well on leash and off leash. Jag deserves to spend his remaining years as either an only dog or a purely spoiled dog. I am true to my Shepherd breed as I love to be close to my people but will settle quietly into my crate with my foster brother next to me at night and when my foster mom needs a break. I am working on my potty training and have come so far. You see before I was rescued I didn’t know I was supposed to go out. Although I am a big girl, I am still just a puppy:) I am a very smart girl and am working on basic commands including sit, wait and come. I will need someone who is committed to giving me the training and socialization I need to be a amazing girl. Oh, and a good resident dog role model would also be nice. Nomad has been with CalPaws for a couple of days. He came to us from training. He was with another rescue and basically they did not wish to continue advocating for him. So 14 months later after going into board and train he came to us. This boy is lovely. He is a lot of energy, but he is eager and so willing to please. We have spent the first couple of days decompressing and getting used to the pack. Nomad is fully house broken and does come with some skills. He does self correct, meaning he will start to jump, but will quickly stop himself. Nomad is sweet and oh so affectionate. He does get nervous with new introductions, but understanding and letting him have a moment to assess the situation he responds well. He is goofy, fun, he is very good and treat motivated and you will lose your finger if you do not use a flat palm in order for him to take the food. He is great with the pack and is amazing going into his crate when told. He does not whimper at all. He is great off and on leash and he loves his walks. He loves his leash and what comes with it! Nomad is fully vetted and does have some excellent training behind him to include scent work. She has had a lot taken from her in life so she’s not fond when her siblings steal her toys or treats. She has high prey drive, squirrels are always on her radar she could chase them for hours with not a care in the world. She’s not treat motivated, so learning how she wants to be trained is a work in progress but starting to catch on and she is learning from her foster sister. Likely having no leash exposure, she is learning that it’s ok and to relax and go potty on the walks is happening more and more. It’s beautiful to see her grow and get comfortable. She knows her family is her pack and looks to them for guidance. She is learning how to show affection with no jumping. She’s gentle with kids I think she knows they are little. Crate training is a work in progress But coming along. She’s had no accidents in the house and is seeing her sister go to the door telling her oh wait I should do that too!
