Meet Mixey! Say hello to Mixey! Mixey is a petite shepherd mix with a heart of gold. At just 35 pounds she is perfect for someone that wants big shepherd love in a medium dog body. Mixey meets other dogs perfectly and folded right in to her foster pack within minutes, never looking back. She even joined in on training time with the pack and learned basic commands instantly. Mixey is crate trained (slept silently in her crate through the hours of local 4th of July  fireworks) and is well on her way to learning the house rules. She loves her fellow fur siblings and is super excited to see her human in the mornings, jumping for joy (never on you) and then rolling over for a belly rub. Her name really should be Roo because she stands up on her back legs like a kangaroo for an impressive amount of time when she’s curious about something. Mixey would love a home with another dog to play with. She loves humans of all sizes, cuddling up with whomever is on the couch. Mixey loves to chase the ball, and is  working hard on bringing it back… her favorite thing to chase is the cat, clearing any obstacle in the way so no feline friends for this girl. There is not a mean bone in this pups body and she has ALL the shepherd love to give. Will Mixey “mix” in to your home? Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00 Each of our dogs have a microchip as well as spay or neuter. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Meet August, a gentle 14-week-old German Shepherd ready to find his forever home. August was rescued from a challenging start in a backyard breeder's hoarding situation. He was underweight and infected with fleas and parasites. He was in a place not suitable for a grown dog, let alone a puppy. August has flourished in his foster home and is showing us his shy and sweet personality. His loves water and his favorite thing to do is playing in his puppy pool. He also enjoys playing with his brother, running after thrown toys, and play tug of war with ropes. During down time, August will chewy on a Kong chewy filled with peanut butter or play nicely with his toys. He will avoid excessively loud noises and will walk away if he thinks you’re petting too roughly. August comes when called, knows the encouragement of “go potty” and responds well to a firm “No.” He is also crate trained and will hold his potty while in his crate at night- only becoming vocal when he needs to go out to potty. He is currently learning how to potty train and is doing excellent on hard surfaces but may sometimes mistakes carpet for grass. He is working on learning basic sit, stay commands. His leash manners are good. He does not fight the leash and is open to be directed. He is treat motivated!  August rides perfectly in the car. He is afraid of his resident cat and we suspect he could be placed easily with a feline friend. He doesn’t bark often, typically just when playing.  August a pup who may need a bit of time to feel comfortable with new surroundings and we believe he would flourish in a home where he can learn from a resident dog. If you're looking to provide a loving home for a special soul like August, he's eagerly awaiting to meet you.  show less

Meat Dean! Dean is an 8-week old male German Shepherd. Dean was rescued at 5 weeks of age when he and his sister were dumped at the Stanislaus Shelter in deplorable condition. He was covered in infected flea bites, his coat was matted in puss, and he was extremely dehydrated and underweight. Dean spent the night in the Emergency Hospital where they worked on hydrating him, started him on medications, and cleaned him up to the best of their abilities, which included some shaving. This poor guy was not feeling good in his skin, but since being given consistent good care he has shown how appreciate and sweet he is. Dean’s soft eye contact and cuddly nature makes him a gem in his foster home. He is polite and adoring to his 10-year old foster sister, is learning to enjoy toys, and will give a good romp with his sister, Dolly. Dean is a gentle soul and has a confidence that is not overbearing. He enjoys his naps, likely as he’s still healing, and sleeps quietly in his crate all evening with access to puppy pads to relieve himself.    Dean has been medically cleared and is ready for his forever home! Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Brad Is your type 'Tall, Dark, and Handsome"? How about a sensitive soul? Brad ticks all the boxes and you are in luck - he's available. Brad came to Calpaws from the Oakland shelter. He's not a fan of the hustle and bustle of city life - he's more of a small town, sleepy neighborhood kind of guy. Brad does well with other dogs, but is just as happy to be solo too. He's 7 years old, about 75 lbs and a tall drink of water. He's a shy boy and prefers hanging at home for netflix and chill vs the party scene. Brad does well left alone on his own, is fully house trained, crate trained and improving his leash skills every day. Brad makes a great work from home buddy - snoozing through those meetings and content with a walk or two each day. Brad would love a house with a yard for some games of fetch or just chilling on the grass.  Brad has had some training and does well with structure and being given tasks. Brad is super smart and a really good dog. Adoption fees: Senior: 6+ yr $350.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip.
