Fancy is great with cats, she is selective about dogs as she likes to take things slow with other dogs. She absolutely loves children and for her not be to adopted with a loving family with kids would be such a shame. She is amazing at public functions and is really an amazing dog with an amazing story.  This is her story...... Her “street” name was Bandita. The momma dog raising her babies in the recycle plant. Not only was she raising HER babies , but one of her babies was grown and raising a litter side by side with her. 3 whole generations of dogs and puppies being tended to by the kind people at the recycle plant. Given limited resources, they did an amazing job.  Her new name is Fancy.  Something about that song… being from the rough roach infested neighborhood, and coming into luxury to raise her babies. It just strikes a chord with us. Fancy is absolutely a wonderful and beautiful dog. She had multiple litters of puppies and has worked hard to raise them all. You can tell by her protectiveness that she hasn’t always had it easy. She didn’t always have a quiet, safe, cool and clean place to raise her broods. But she does now and man is she quite the transformation.   Fancy walks wonderfully on a leash. She prefers to walk in the front yard for potty time so she can sit and listen to the noises of town. She is curious about her surroundings and very confident when on walks. She redirects easily and aims to please.  She is house broken now and loves hugs and kisses.  She will crawl into your lap if you’re sitting on the floor and cuddle you. If you’re standing or sitting on a chair she will gently put her front paws on your chest for hugs and soft nose boops. She is very affectionate.   Fancy is learning some commands, has mastered sit, down and off. She is beginning to trust other dogs but will do so much better when she can be settled in her forever home.  Thus far, she is great with the resident male dog.  Fancy is not yet tested with young children but adores the resident teen. She has met the residentt outdoor cat and was fairly disintersted, but has not been tested withindoor cats. This girl has a heart of gold and eyes that see straight through you. She is a delight.  Fancy is officially available for adoptions now that she has weaned her babies! This girl deserves a life of adventure, cuddles and sweet nose boops with her perfect people. Whoever she chooses will be some seriously lucky humans!  show less

Meet Toby Toby is an absolute sweetheart and a joy to have around. This inquisitive and eager-to-please little guy is always ready for an adventure, whether it's a leisurely long walk or a spirited mini run.   Here is a note from Toby's foster mom:   Toby is a cuddly, sweet, and playful pup. He’s food motivated and has picked up on his training quickly. He is a little nervous in new situations and with new people or dogs. We’re socializing him by teaching him when we go out, his job is to focus on whoever has his leash! Not everyone gets to pet him, he doesn’t get to meet every dog, his main goal is to sit or lay down patiently and hang out. He’s been doing very well.  Toby has been great with the resident three dogs (males, ages 7months - 4 years). He is a ladies man and tends to be slightly more pushy with girl dogs but he’s quick to take a correction and has a ball playing with dogs off leash.  He is potty trained, crate trained, he walks well on leash, rides well in the car, we’re working on recall (he has a Flexi leash for our hikes), he also knows sit, down, place, and we’re learning spin for a fancy heel. We’re working on come (he knows it at home but still gets a little distracted when we’re out and about).  He is very chill in the house. Considerably lazy for his breed. He naps throughout the day, is always down for a walk, and wants to snuggle at all times.  Toby’s met children and does well with them, he loves them!  He would be great for a multitude of people. He loves to walk and hike, comes to a local brewery to hang out at his foster mom's feet while she works, and can be left home alone (after he’s decompressed in a new home, but he can also be in a crate for short periods). He’s an awesome, young, silly dog  show less

Cal Paws is delighted to introduce Blossom. Blossom comes to us from an overcrowded East Bay Shelter where shepherds are prevalent. This beautiful girl was at risk of euthanasia due to the shelter's overcapacity. After spending just one week in a foster home, it's evident why she has captured the hearts of the staff and volunteers. Blossom is a sweet and mellow two-year-old who adores balls, stuffed animals, walks, and spending time with her favorite people. Her calm demeanor makes her the perfect companion for chilly evenings, as she doubles as a foot warmer. Blossom has a mild energy level and enjoys daily walks of 30 minutes or hikes, followed by a well-deserved nap. Her calmnature makes her well-suited for a family environment, and she would thrive in a small home or townhome. When given yard access, she prefers to be indoors, where she enjoys snuggling, chewing on her toys, and spending quality time with her people. Blossom is highly sociable and exhibits warmth and friendliness towards everyone she encounters. Reports indicate that she has lived with children, which is not surprising given her gentle and composed disposition.   Blossom is not fond of cats and is still adjusting to sharing her foster mom's attention with other resident dogs in the foster home. While she is polite and walks well with other dogs, her adaptability to new circumstances is outstanding, having recently transitioned from the shelter to being spayed into a foster home with other animals. She is fully house-trained, is not destructive when left alone, is crate-trained, knows down, sits, and loves catching balls. She also knows her name and will come. Her foster family plans to work on coming from a distance and stay. This beautiful strawberry-blond girl has a heartwarming effect on everyone who meets her. In a world abundant with shepherds, Blossom truly stands out as an exceptional and loyal companion. show less

Meet Chet! Born on 4/19, these little loves have been well socialized from birth with kids of all ages! They are spunky at play time, but love a good nap in your lap or even cradled in your arms. They spend their days playing outside and learning to potty in designated areas, while inside they are already working on potty pad training as well. They’re also working on recall with basic hand signals and squeaky toys, and are gentle at taking treats from small hands. Their DNA includes Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, German Shepherd, and Australian Cattle Dog, so they will be exceptionally smart, very active, and loyal family dogs! Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Our dogs are spayed/neutered and a registered chip. For our puppies they are up to date on vaccinations.  Once adopted it is the new owner’s responsibility to continue the remaining vaccinations with a veterinarian. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match. Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application! We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Being a foster is such a rewarding experience. If you are interested please review https://www.calpaws.org/fostering show less
