He’s a gentle soul who thrives with love, consistency, and a little structure. Onyx has already been through some obedience training and is eager to keep learning with his forever family. This handsome boy is both playful and mellow, he ok to run with (about 2 miles, though he’ll slow down after mile 1!) and would make a great buddy for an active lifestyle, but he’s just as happy hanging out and being near his people. He’s not pushy or overly food driven, just genuinely happy to be around those he trusts. Onyx would do best in a quiet but active home that can offer him stability, love, and a safe environment. Meet Sugar & Spice two sweet sisters with lots of love to give. These girls were sadly found abandoned on the side of the road with no trace of an owner, but that’s all behind them now they’re safe, loved, and officially Calpaws pups! Sugar and Spice are believed to be young adults, likely just under a year old, and we suspect they’re Anatolian Shepherd mixes, a gentle guardian breed known for loyalty and intelligence. Despite their rough start, these two have kept their sweetness. They’re dog friendly, kid friendly, and people friendly just easygoing girls who want to belong. Because of the risk of littermate syndrome, Sugar and Spice will be adopted separately, but both are searching for their perfect match. They are a bit timid, so each will thrive best in a home with another confident dog who can show them the ropes and help them blossom. Meet Beau formerly “Alfie,” always a sweetheart. This handsome German Shepherd/Dutch Shepherd mix who will be approx 60–80 lb gentle giant with a heart twice that size. Beau hasn’t had the easiest start. After spending quite a bit of time in a shelter, the big world is still a little overwhelming for him. Going outside can be scary, so for now his foster mom scoops him up and gives him a lift. He’s trying his hardest, and every day he takes a few more brave steps forward. He loves his crate (door open at all times so he knows he’s safe) and currently has access to the whole kitchen. He’s smart and tidy if you give him a pad, he uses it! Beau is a shy, timid, incredibly tender boy who melts with love, patience, and belly rubs. And those eyes… the softest, kindest eyes just begging for someone to choose him. He’s starting to explore the house, lounging on the dog bed like a proper prince, keeping a respectful eye on the cats, and even starting to play with his toys. He would do great with a confident dog to show me the ropes. Beau is truly something special. With the right family, one that understands gentle guidance, slow introductions, and confidence building he’s going to blossom into the most loyal, loving, gentle giant. Maddie is approximately a year old sweetheart. She is petite weighing only 35lbs and she is a busy girl. Maddie loves hiking and has excellent recall when off leash. She does well on leash and she loves being out and about. She can be a bit slow to greet new people but since Maddie was abandoned we don't know her past but inclined to think she was not treated well. Maddie loves her foster family and is always active making sure they are safe. She is extremely loyal. She is smart, agile and a love bug. She is house trained, loves driving in the car and she knows several commands such as sit, down, come. She is very eager to please. She is great with older kids. She can be selected about other dogs and as she likes to be in charge she does better with male dogs. Ps no Emu's for Maddie. show less

From practicing obedience in stores and parking lots to calmly observing the world around him, Teddy’s proving that he’s ready for life’s everyday adventures. Teddy has built a strong foundation in his training — he knows his commands (sit, down, place, recall) and is learning to hold them with patience and composure, even in busy settings. Meet beautiful Miss Rumi Rumi is the perfect combination of smart and sweet. She lives with a five year old girl who she thinks is pretty amazing. Her two large fur foster brothers are her besties and she also lives with a 19 year old cat who she has the best manners with. Rumi is affectionate and calm and just adores her humans. She is doing amazing with potty training and sleeps quietly all night in her crate. Every morning she hangs out patiently watching her foster mama get ready for the day. Her spot under the bed is get favorite view. She is learning commands quickly and always eager to please. Rumi would do amazing in a home who is experienced with her breed and that has a confident dog to be her buddy. She LOVES kids and will be amazingly loyal to anyone who is lucky enough to call her theirs. show less

Meet Harper — the Sweetest, Easiest Companion You Could Ask For! Harper’s journey started in the Central Valley, where she was found trapped in a canal and brought to Fresno Animal Services. A wonderful soul there saw her gentle spirit and made sure she got a second chance—leading her straight into the loving arms of CalPaws and her foster family. From day one, Harper has been an absolute delight. Even with a giant cone on her head, she settled in beautifully and has shown what an easy, well-mannered girl she truly is. She rarely barks, may whine softly for attention, and is perfectly content using her crate as her own safe space. Harper shines in all the ways that make a dog instantly lovable: Fantastic with children Perfect on leash and loves her walks Completely house-broken & sleeps through the night Great recall foundation and knows basic commands Respects boundaries and free-feeds calmly She’s a classic GSD at heart—loyal, people-oriented, and happiest when she’s near her humans. Every night she lays with her foster’s kids until it’s time for her final walk and then heads to her crate for bedtime. Harper is wonderfully gentle and has shown zero aggression. She does get excited when she spots squirrels or outdoor cats, but it’s all curiosity—she’d probably be startled if she ever actually caught one! She enjoys toys, listens well, has a goofy side, and isn’t attached to her name if her future family wants to choose their own.
