Mazzie is a lovely German Shepherd (likely Malinois) mix. Her foster mom describes her as a sensitive, affectionate, and curious dog who loves being close to her people—she’s very attached at the hip. She can be a bit timid when meeting new dogs (tucking her tail at first) but warms up quickly, engaging in exaggerated play bows, muzzle nudges, and friendly wrestling. She adores food and being outside. Mazzie is housebroken, zig zags a little on leash but does not pull. She is pretty nuetral with dogs, horses, and people she meets out and about, sometimes giving 1 bark but easily redirected and stopped. She was excellent walking by a mother and her young children. Mazzie makes steady leaps and bounds in her foster home. She was at first unsure about car rides, but is much better about loading up and going for an adventure! Mazzie is a good girl with an easy temperament that just wants to do well. She would thrive in a home environment that will show her love and continue her confidence building while exploring how fun the world around her is. show less

Meet Bear! Bear is the most independent of the three sisters. Bear is down to join the fun and roughhouse and explore with the group but is most often found doing her own thing, she comes off as fairly active at first but is the most content to just sit with a chew toy in a corner while everyone else is on the go. She prefers to be indoor and is already getting the concept of potty training as she will whine and circle when she has to go so it’s easy to get her outside before she has an accident. Bear is very sweet and loves a good cuddle but is totally fine being left to her own devices with a chew toy or a puzzle. Bear also loves to just sit and watch the action. She would do well with anybody from a homebody to a weekend warrior as long as her mind gets stimulated and she has some love she’s a happy girl. Puppy: up to 1 yr $450.00 Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs. Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. Say "hi" to Cheddar. This sweet girl was hit by a car in the San Jose area and a good samaritan took her to the vet to get help. With a broken leg, the shelter was no place for her to recover so she became a CalPaws dog! In the end the break was too severe to heal so CHeddar is now our newest tripod! While she is still healing, she is so much happier! She is so incredibly sweet and cloves to cuddle so she welcomes the down time on the couch. She has a relaxed demeanor and is quite wise for her puppy age. She likes when she can see her person and prefers company, furry and human. She would do great with another fur sibling but still needs to take it easy while she finishes healing. show less

Tenaya is incredibly sweet and very mellow. Her favorite thing is to snuggle up beside you and get pets and praise for doing something right. If you're not available, snuggling her plushy lamb chop is a close second. She eats her meals slowly, but is always up for a yummy treat. Tenaya is just starting out in learning about the world, and needs her trusted human(s) to help her get more experience with going for walks and meeting new friends. She is a fast learner and is gaining confidence rapidly! She is dog friendly, very sweet with children and would appreciate kids that aren't overly rambunctious. Arrow came to CalPaws just hours old. So brand new that he still had his umbilical cord attached! After several weeks with a wonderful surrogate momma dog, he is back in his foster home. At 4 1/2 weeks old, Arrow is the biggest and the fluffiest of his siblings. He has dreamy eyes and the softest coat. Arrow is confident but mellow. His little arooooooo will melt your heart! Let us not forget the stunning blue eyes! Cupid truly is a beautiful boy who has so much love to give! Cupid is currently pad trained and when hes a bit older , he will begin his potty training adventure. Meet Ranger Mav, a sweet and gentle 18-month-old German Shepherd with a heart full of love. Ranger Mav, originally named Maverick, has had a rough start in life, but he’s shown nothing but affection and trust since being rescued. He was found in December after his previous owner heartlessly kicked him out, leaving him to sit in front of their door for weeks. Despite his early experiences, Ranger Mac has quickly adapted to his new life and is ready for a fresh start with a family who will cherish him. This handsome boy loves human companionship, especially women, and will happily cuddle and follow you around. He's very affectionate with everyone he meets and has a playful side, especially when it comes to fetch! Whether it's a ball or a frisbee, he’s all in. He walks beautifully on a leash and enjoys relaxing close to his humans when indoors, just soaking up the love. Ranger Mav is a great dog with other dogs of all sizes, though he’s not a fan of cats. He’s had a couple of curious interactions with them, so we believe he’d be best suited in a home without feline friends. He’s responds very well to correction and tries hard to remember things he shouldn’t do. He is fully crate trained staying in it for upto 2 hours during the day and sleeps through the night in it. He’s also fully potty trained. He is very food motivated and listens well when there is a morsel involved. He can be a bit mouthy but is learning to be gentle when he takes treats. He’s very much a big softie with the most beautiful eyes and adorable paws. He loves kids, often showering them with kisses and lives in a house with a 12&7 year old and a small dog. show less

Fostered by a surrogate mama, Dixie, these pups have been well cared for and loved. Amore is just like his name suggests, he is a lovable boy with lots of cuddles and kisses to give. Amore is the quieter one in his litter.While the rest are running, leaping and getting into mischeif, Amore can be found curled up taking a restful nap or just observing the shenanigans. This little guy absolutely wants to be attached to his human whenever possible. He loves his cuddle time. Amore wears his heart in his eyes. One blue and one heterochromic, he is absolutley stunning to look at. His sweet face will melt your heart and inspire instant happiness. Amore is pad trained currently but will begin outdoor potty training soon. He sleeps well in his crate at night with all of his soft blankets and stuffed animals. show less

Meet Levi! I dare you not to swoon over his dreamy soft brown eyes! This guy has a story to tell that will warm your whole heart. Levi was found by a good samaritan when he was about 7 weeks old in an orchard with his mom and two brothers. They were taken to the shelter and a calpaws volunteer went very quickly to assess them, only to find that they had all adopted out quickly! Levi was so scared. He had never been around humans before, as he was likely born in that orchard. His original adopter decided that he was not a good fit with her two small senior dogs and took to facebook to rehome him. Wouldnt ya know, that same calpaws volunteer saw his posting! Levi has been in foster with calpaws for about 10 days. In that time, with the help of the resident pack, he has bloomed into a happy and playful puppy! Levi would not do well living in a home with no other dogs. When he is scared or unsure, he looks to them for guidance. Levi is quickly becoming acclimated to human touch, even snuggling with his foster mom in bed at night. He is crate trained , but not a huge fan of it. This could be trauma from being seperated from his mom and siblings at the shelter. No doubt that a gentle touch and positive reinforcement will cure this fear. He easily crates for meal time and is about 90% house broken. This guy is oh-so-special and is looking for his forever family! He will need somewhere with space to play , and would likely do best in a home without small children. Loud noises can be scary! Please apply for Levi if you are interested. Smit is incredibly sweet and loves to show affection by licking your hand when he wants to nibble, but he’s quickly learning his boundaries. Monty was rescued from a neglectful situation, but given his sweet, friendly disposition- you would never know he had an unloved start to life. He is neutered, crate trained, friendly with adults. fantastic with kids/toddlers, and great with other dogs. He still has some puppy energy but without the house breaking, he is house trained! He loves to snuggle, knows "sit" "down" "shake: and "stay" as he is a very VERY good boy. We can't think of one negative thing to say about Monty, he is one of the good ones and will make a wonderful addition to most homes. show less
