Meet Hercules, a 4 year neutered male chihuahua mix, weighing about 7 lbs! Hercules came into rescue with Pepper, he was a stray found tied to a fence in east TN. He is ready to make his freedom ride to New England to find his furever home! Hercules is a very sweet, friendly boy who loves other dogs and people! He has not been cat tested, however we feel he would likely do fine with cats. Hercules is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. A 100% good doggo! Apply to meet him today! Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! show less

Meet Dorris, a super sweet 6-8 year old spayed female beagle mix! Dorris was picked up as a stray by animal control in east TN when she was very heavily pregnant - poor Dorris looked like she was about to pop! Paws Rescue League took her into rescue and placed her into a loving foster home, where she went into labor and began giving birth during the evening hours of 9/29. Dorris was able to deliver the first 3 babies on her own, but baby #4 got stuck, so her experienced foster mom loaded her up to the vet for a C section. The vet was able to pull out baby #4, however it was stillborn 😢 The final 3 babies were delivered via C section (mama was also spayed following the C section). One other baby did not make it, but the surviving 5 pups (the "Little Piggy" litter 🐷) have grown into chubby, healthy puppies who have all been adopted! Now Mama Dorris is ready to retire from motherhood and live out the rest of her days being spoiled like she deserves!  Dorris is good with other dogs, cats, people, and kids. She is an easy, low maintenance dog who would do well in most homes. From Dorris's current foster: "Dorris is the sweetest! Her favorite activity is sleeping but when we go on walks she gets a boost of energy. She loves sniffing, her nose is always to the ground. When she sniffs a squirrel out she’ll chase after them. Fortunately, she hasn’t expressed any interest in chasing after my cat so I’d say she’s good with dog savvy cats. The few times my cat has approached Dorris she doesn’t do much. She also loves eating (who doesn't!) and cuddling.  She does very good on her own whenever I need to leave the house for work or errands, settles right into her crate until I come back. Overall she’s a cutie!!" She is medically up to date, crate trained, and housebroken. Apply to meet this sweet, loving girl today!  Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Meet Noelle, a super cute 2-3 year old spayed female chihuahua! Noelle was rescued from a hoarding case in east TN, and she and 9 other chihuahuas (several of which were pregnant) were taken in by Paws Rescue League. They have been in a TN foster home for over a month now decompressing and learning to trust people. Noelle is now ready to make the trip to New England to find her furever home!  Noelle is a shy girl and takes a little time to warm up to new people, so she will need someone who is patient and gentle with her, and who will work with her on continued socialization. Once you earn her trust, she is a very sweet girl! She is good with other dogs, not cat tested but we assume she would be fine with cats. Due to her shyness, we recommend older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space. Noelle is medically up to date, pee pad trained, and working on outdoor housebreaking. Apply to meet this darling girl today!  Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. Meet Glory, the sweetest little chihuahua mix you'll ever lay your eyes on! Glory is approximately 2 yrs old, spayed, and weighs only 10 lbs - the perfect lap dog! Glory was heavily pregnant when she was taken into rescue, and she gave birth to 4 puppies just before the 4th of July (Liberty, Patriot, Victoria, and Yankee). All of her pups have found their furever homes, and now it's mama Glory's turn to find her furever home! And she deserves the best! Glory is a shy girl who takes a little time to warm up to new people, but she is very sweet! She is good with other dogs, cats, and people. We recommend older kids (8+) who know to respect a dog's space (due to her small size and nervousness). From Glory's current foster:  "Glory took about 1-2 days to fully come out of her shell. She was shy and very nervous at first (has the typical chihuahua shakes, tail between her legs) but now is running all over the house, tail wagging, jumping into our laps and arms and wants nothing more than to snuggle in your arms. Playful and loves belly rubs. Has warmed up to the whole house, loves all people and dogs. Quiet as a mouse. Housebroken and crate trained. Just the cutest thing ever." Glory has been patiently waiting for her family for some time now, and would love nothing more than some humans to cuddle up to & maybe some furry siblings to hangout with. She is a fairly mellow dog (minus the occasional 5 minute zoomie that puts her to sleep for a few hours) so a quieter home where she can spend a lot of time with her people would be ideal for her.  She is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. Are you ready to make this cutie part of your family? Apply to meet this darling girl today! Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. She currently weighs about 15-20 lbs and is not expected to grow much bigger. She has petite features and refined bone structure like her mama (mom was about 30 lbs).  Elsie has demonstrated good social skills. She's working on potty training and doing very well, learning to sit politely for pets, and is friendly with other dogs and people alike! She is up-to-date on vaccinations, crate trained, and microchipped.  From Elsie's current foster:  "Although Elsie is bred to be high energy she’s actually the perfect mix of energy levels. She will calmly hang out in her crate while I’m at work or doing something in the house that I can’t watch her. Outside she will run laps and play but never runs too far out of sight and comes every time she’s called. She will play with her toys or other dogs in the house but most likely she’s relaxing on the couch chewing a bone or taking a nap. She’s not wired or super hyper. She wants to please her humans and tries hard to figure out what’s expected from her. She’s a pleasure to foster. Her terrier DNA does have her barking at the cats and will chase them if they run but she’s working on those behaviors." Apply to meet this sweet girl today! Thank you for your support and understanding! show less

Meet Piglet, one of the "Little Piggy" puppies 🐷, born to mama Dorris! Piglet is a male beagle/hound mix, expected to grow to a medium sized dog.  Mama Dorris was picked up as a stray by animal control in east TN when she was very heavily pregnant - poor Dorris looked like she was about to pop! One other baby did not make it, but the surviving 5 pups (the "Little Piggie" litter) have grown into chubby, healthy puppies who are almost ready for their furever homes! Piglet is a typical happy, playful puppy who loves everyone! He is good with dogs, cats, people, and kids. Young puppies are like blank slates who, when properly trained/socialized, will grow into wonderful dogs. From Piglet's current foster: "Piglet 🖤 Little body, huge heart. Piglet is always looking to put a smile on your face and give so many kisses. His big, brown eyes match his big heart. He loves to fall asleep in your lap but does great putting himself to bed when he’s played too hard. Piglet is amazing with other dogs, cats and kids, constantly looking for the opportunity to play. He loves to play with any toys, but he specifically loves ones that squeak and roll. Piglet also loves bones for some independent play. Don’t be fooled by his size, this little guy has a big appetite! He is very eager to learn. He is crate trained and is doing amazing with potty training. Piglet is always up for an adventure and he can’t wait to find his forever home and learn so much more with his new family!" Meet Snickerdoodle, a sweet 2-3 year old spayed female doxie/small terrier mix, weighing about 18 lbs currently! Snickerdoodle was picked up as a stray by animal control in east TN when she was heavily pregnant. Paws Rescue League took her into rescue and placed her into a loving foster home, where she gave birth to 7 puppies (the Cookie litter) on 9/22. Sadly, only 3 of the 7 puppies survived. Snickerdoodle has been a wonderful, loving mama to her babies, but her mama days are now behind her, and she is ready to head north to find her furever home!  Snickerdoodle is good with other dogs, people, and kids.
