Zoey came to us through a local TN animal shelter, a family was giving up their many dogs, because it became too much for them having so many dogs. They gave up 6 dogs, Bella, Chevy Jade, Prissy, Sassy, and Zoey. All 6 are Pomeranian and chihuahuas, and mixes of the two. Zoey is a 1.5 year old spayed female Pomeranian mix, she has long hair red and white fur. She house trained, crate trained, and good with other dogs, and people, we suggest older kids, 8 and up. We are unsure how they would do with cats. Sassy is under 15lbs, and is full grown, She is a laid back pooch who likes to be close to her people. Medically up to date with all of her vet care. Brody is an 11 lb, 2 year old male chi, he is neutered, 4DX/HW negative, and medically up to date on vetting, He is a very very sweet little dude, is enjoying all the attention he is getting from his foster family. Hes already met many other people and dogs, and has enjoyed every second! Brody is housebroken, and crate trained, and has wonderful indoor manners, hes gentle and sweet, and loves to go on walks, and take cat naps next to his people. Brody has met children and done well with them, we believe he would do well in a home with kids that know how to respcet a dogs space. He is good with other dogs, of all sizes. We are unsue about cats, but based on his temperament, and personality we beleive he could do well in a home with cats, and/or learn to live in a home with them. (Cupids) Bow was saved on Valentines day from a kill shelter/Animal Control in TN. He was found as a stray. TN law states dogs found as strays are given 3 days for their owner to find and pick them up. Or for a new adopter to adopt, or a rescue to pull the dog. After 3 days the dog can be euthanized for space. A dog who is brought in by his/her owners, can be euthanized immediately. This particular Animal Control has 10 kennels(stalls), that house stray dogs. There is an EXTREME over population of UNWANTED dogs in TN at this time. EVERY ANIMAL CONTROL/SHELTER AND RESCUE IS FULL. These discarded, deserted dogs that once had families that loved them, or people who cared for them, HAVE NO WHERE TO GO. EUTHANASIA rates have INCREASED in the last year, a lot of this is due to the huge wave of people who adopted/bought/bred dogs during the pandemic. Now that people have gone back to work, dogs are being dumped at alarmingly high rates. In Bows case, often times we seen Coonhounds, and other hounds who their people have thrown them out like trash, because they were purchased to be hunting dogs. If the dog doesn't hunt, the dog is useless to that owner. The right thing to do, would be to love the dog anyway. The next best thing would be to find a loving home with a friend or family member, and as a last resort bring to the shelter in hopes someone will adopt the dog. BUT most times these dogs are just "Turned out" " Thrown out", deserted, abandoned, left to fend for their themselves. Bow is merley one years old, he had/has his whole life ahead of him. He deserved so much more than to be tossed out and left to survive on his own. He is a sweet, happy go lucky. silly, playful, good boy. He loves everyone he meets, he LOVES to play with other dogs. He is just happy about LIFE! He loves to be in the sunshine, and smell the grass and flowers. He is happy to greet you with kisses and excitement - excitment that somone has come to see HIM! The dog his people didn't want. The dog that was useless, no good, worthless to his previous owner. While Bow may not be a hunter, he is GREAT at being a BEST FRIEND! He is a LOYAL companion, and he will make a family very happy, a family who doesn't see him as uselss. Bow is a 1 year old neutered male Treeing walker coonhound, and a GORGEOUS one at that! He is about 50lbs, sweet, and friendly, crate trained, and housebroken (currently with a dog door), he attends day care and has made lots and lots of doggo and people friends. He is good with kids, we suggest 10 years and up due to his age, and size. He has NOT been cat tested so we are unsure how he would do with cats. His best bud was Haylee, a very sweet shepard mix, who is currenrly pending adoption. Bows hope is that he will find a loving caring home like his pal Haylee did. Bow arrives in New England on 04/08/2023. And is hoping to find a loving foster home or FURever home! ( We can not save them if they do not have a safe home to go to). Madeline came to paws rescue league when another local rescue had reached out to us. Madelines previous owner, had reached out to a breed specific rescue, for German Shepards. Madeline and her sibling are clearly Labrador mixes. When we called the previous owner we were told, that she had driven 8 hours to Georgia to buy 2 sibling purebred german shepards, she had paid a lot of money for them. As they got older she realized they did not look like German Shepards, and had bought them for protection of their property. She reached out to a German Shepard rescue and asked that rescue to take them. Since they are clearly Lab mixes, the German Shepard rescue asked if we could help. We were able to take Madeline into our rescue, she has been living in a loving foster home, and has been spayed, and fully vetted, she has all of her annual vaccines, and heartworm testing, she is current on her monthly preventatives, and has been cleared for adoption. Madeline is crate trained, and housebroken ( she uses a dog door that she has access to at all times, she will also alert you by going to a door, once she is familiar with a new environment ). She walks well on leash and does ok in the car. Madeline is good with other dogs of all sizes, she has been in a foster home with 6 little dogs, ranging from 8lbs - 24lbs, she has also been fostered with a 60lbs hound mix. Her previous owner had young children and Madeline was very good with these children. Her prior owner told us she would sleep in the bed with them at night. Madeline has NOT been cat tested, so we do not know if she would do well with cats. Madeline is a 6 month old spayed female lab mix, with a yellow coat. She is still in her puppy months, and is eager to learn, and find a home who will continue to socialize her, to all kinds of sights, sounds, smells, people, dogs and animals. She is active, being a lab mix, they tend to be on the more active side, so a family who would like to take her on long walks, hikes, or jogs would be great! She would love a fenced in yard, somewhere she can play safely! show less

Marnie is a 1 year old BEAUTIFUL hound/lab mix, She is spayed, 4DX ( Heartworm, Lyme,and tickborne illness) negative. She is medically up to date on annual vaccines, and vetting, and on monthly preventatives. Marnie is a super sweet, very friendly girl, she has loved every doggo and person she has met so far. She was found as a stray, and picked up by animal control in TN. TN law, a stray dog can be euthanized (killed), after 3 days if no one steps up for the dog. Rescues tirelessly save these innocent, loyal and loving furbabies who deserve to be loved and cared for. Marnie is a prime example of a very young, wonderfully sweet, friendly well natured, healthy dog who was at risk of euthanasia. Marnie is a year old, with her whole life ahead of her. Marnie arrives this weekend 04/08/2023 and is HOPING to find a loving family to call her own, tired of life on the street, alone and cold, without the comfort of a friend to hold her and keep her safe. Cassian was found as a stray and picked up by animal control. This animal control is a kill shelter, dogs who are strays have 3 days per TN law, to have their owner claim them, or someone to adopt or a rescue to save them. Cassians time was up, he was going to be euthanized, due to no fault of his own, but because there is NO SPACE in shelters to keep dogs any longer than 3 days... So many dogs come in each day, animal control, shelters, and rescues CAN NOT KEEP UP. Cassian is a SUPER sweet, calm, gentle, laid back, sweet temperament, and a little shy guy. He becomes your friend right away, but you can tell people neglected him most of his life, and its heartbreaking. He is so good with other dogs, and with people, its hard to believe he's been discarded like trash. Cassian is a 2 year old neutered male German Shepard mix, he is medically up to date on all vaccines, hes heartworm negative, and neutered. He is housebroken and crate trained. He has been fostered with Phoenix for 45 days, and has been enrolled in doggy day care the last 3 weeks hes been in TN. Cassian deserves a live with a family who will LOVE, and care for him, He would fit well in most homes, he is good with other dogs, and kids 8 years and up ( as we have not tested him with kids younger than 8 years old). Cyclone, Drizzle, Glacier, Freeze, and Hilly, were dumped by their owners along with their momma Frankie. Paws Rescue League Inc was asked by the humane society if we could take them into rescue. Frankie and her 5 pups have been in TN foster while they were vetted, and cleared for transport and adoption. Cyclone is a 10 week old male German Shepard hound mix, he had a beautiful tan coat. Cyclone currently weighs about 5lbs, and is expected to be between 40-60lbs full grown. He would love to have a family with shepard experience, and a fenced in yard to play. He would do well in a home with kids, other dogs and cats. Cyclone is very young still, and socialization and growing up with cats, dogs and kids will teach him to continue to do well with them. Cyclone is NOT housebroken, he is only 10 weeks old, and is busy practicing leash walking, and housebreaking, and crate training. He is a typical playful, curious pup, who is ready to meet his family so he can grow with them! He is currently in a CT foster home, and is waiting to find his FURever family! show less

Xena came to us when another local rescue had asked if we can take in a small 7 week old chihuhaha mix pup who was being dumped. We of course agreed, and one of our volunteers rushed to pick her up. She has been in a loving foster home in TN while she is vetted and getting ready to make her way North. Xena is a 9 and half week odl chi mix, with a tan coat, and adorable dorito ears. She is just too cute for words, and her foster family has only wonderful things to say about how amazing of a pup she is! Xena is about 2.5lbs currently she is expected to be under 20lbs full grown. She is NOT housebroken yet, but is pad trained, she is working on crate training, and she loves every dog, cat, animal and person she meets. She is just a sweet happy little gal with lots of love to give and is hoping for a FURever home. Xena will arrive in New England on 05/13/2023 and is hoping to meet her FURever family! show less

Aries and Auri, came to Paws Rescue League when a family who had a litter of puppies, had given most of the puppies away, but Auries and Aries did not find homes. They decided to bring them to Animal Control, Animal control is NOT a great place for young puppies. The animal control director called us and asked if we could help take them in so they did not have to enter the shelter environment. We quickly placed Aries and Auri in a loving foster home, who usualy takes puppy fosters in. They worked on socialization while there, and intorduced to leashes, and began working on house breaking and crate training. They have a good foundation, but are looking for loving families to grow with and continue their training. Aries is a beautiful 10 week old mostly white , with a little brown on his coat. He is a typical playful, curious puppy, ready to learn and explore, play and love and bond with his FURever family. Aries is currently being fostered in CT. He is NOT yet fully housebroken, he does well in the crate and ok on leash. He is full of love and puppy dog kisses, and very excited to meet his family soon! show less

Cadbury was saved from a kill shelter the day before Easter Sunday 2023. He was in terrible condition, where he had a horrible skin infection around his neck, due to whatever his owners placed around his neck, and allowed him to get in that condition. Once they didnt care about him at all, they decied to dump him in a local dumping grounds. He wound up being picked up by animal control, which IS a KILL shelter, stray dogs have 3 days to be saved, or they are euthanized for space. As the amount of UNWANTED, ABANDONED DOGS CONTINUES TO GROW DAILY, AROUND THE COUNRTY. Dogs like Cadbury are not even given a chance. We are SO thankful a foster family stepped up for him or he would of met an early death, which he did not deserve. Cadbury is so incredably sweet, he just wants to be close to his people and furfriends, he is good with dogs, kids and people, untested with cats as of right now. He is fully house broken, and crate trained, and very smart. Cadbury shows his foster family how thankfu he is that they saved him, daily! You would be hard pressed to meet a boy thid sweet, and a border collie THIS EASY GOING, but here he is! Cadbury arrives in New England on 05/13/2023 and is in need of a FURever home, or a FOSTER HOME. Our foster homes are completely FULL. This sweet boy needs a foster hero! Merci was found as a stray and wound up at animal control, where Paws Rescue League found her and saved her. Merci was placed in a loving foster home, while she was fully vetted and ready to come to New England. When Merci was at animal control, the note on her intake papers said "The sweetest dog ever, so friendly and gentle, affectionate". - Animal control workers see ALOT of dogs, She made an impression on them with her temperament. While in foster her foster dad only has more wonderful things to say about her. "She is very affectionate and sweet, gentle, and friendly young lady. She enjoys lap snuggles, and playtime with other dogs, of all sizes, ages and genders. Merci uses a doggy door, and and does all her bathroom business outside, and has yet to have an accident in the home. She loves yummy treats, and is eager to please her people, and learn. She is very well mannered, perfect little house guest!" Merci is good with children, she has met an 8 year old, and did great with the child, she has not been cat tested so we are unsure how she would do with cats. She is extrmeley people and dog friendly. Merci is crate trained and practicing leash walking and doing fantastic. Merci weighs 19lbs, and is not expected to get any larger. She is a year old, so she is still very young but out of the puppy stage. Merci arrives in CT on 04/22/2023 and is ready to find her PAWfect family! show less

He is an adorable playful pup, who is learning all about the world around him! He has all age appropriate vaccines and vetting and is makign his way to New England on 05/13/23 and is hoping to find the PAWfect home! Mazzy was found as a stray and picked up by animal control, where strays are given 3 days to find an owner, new adopter or a rescue. After 3 days by TN state law the dog can be euthanized. Paws Rescue League Inc. works tirelessly along side the local Humane Societies, and volunteers to save these dogs. Mazzy was in awful condition, it was evident from her urine/feces soaked and stained paws, that she was caged in a small area and left there to defecate, and live in her own filth. Aside from the stains on her paws, and coat, she was skin and bones, weighing about 13lbs. Every bone in her body visible. Her ears and body covered in fly bites. She did NOT have a good start at life, she has been terribly neglected. She was found on someone's property along with another dog, its believed the owner of the 2 dogs ( Mazzy and the other dog), had dumped them in a community in the middle of the night. Mazzy found a home with a porch and hunkered down, and waited for people to arrive, so she could get help. The owner of the home fed her and called Animal control so she could hopefully find a loving home. Since we got Mazzy in to rescue, she has been living in a loving foster home, who is giving her ALL the love she didn't receive in her past. She has seen the vet, and is now medically up to date, spayed and HW negative. She has been putting on much needed weight, she gained 5lbs in 11 days! She has received many baths to help remove the urine stains on her paws and fur. Her foster mom raves about how sweet she is, and how great of a dog she is. She is shy at first, and doesn't understand how to dog. She doesn't play with toys yet but we believe that will change once she has spent more time in a loving home. She is about 20lbs now, and is crate trained, but prefers to be with her people/person. She is good with dogs, she is in a foster home with many other dogs. She will let other dogs know if she is uncomfortable and needs space, but comes around quickly, and then pays the dogs no mind. She is good on leash, and just really wants to be with her people. She loves to give your hand and face kisses to show her gratitude for saving her. We feel young kids would be too much for her, a home with kids 12 years and up, or no children. A home with dogs, or another dog could help her build her confidence and teach her to be a dog. A loving owner, or owners who are willing to give Mazzy the time she needs to adjust from a life of neglect to a life of love. She has no been cat tested so we are unsure how she would be with cats. show less

Suki came to PRL when a local Humane Society reached out to us to ask if we could take a dog into rescue, Suki is a 3-4 year old male chi/small terrier mix, who weighs about 10lbs, he is full grown and not expected to get any larger, he is a little sweet heart according to his TN foster mom, who says he is just a little doll, who gets along with her dogs, crate trained and house broken using a doggy door. Hearts is a 10 month old spayed female Chihuahua mix ( we believe she may have some whippet, or itallian grey hound as well). She is a sweet friendly girl, still a puppy, at 10 months old. She weighs 10lbs, and probably will only gain about 2 more pounds, if any. She is crate trained, and mostly housebroken. She is working on alerting her foster parents by going to the back door. She is good with all people, and kids 8 years and up, due to her smalll size. She has not been cat tested so we aren't sure how she would do with cats, we believe she would do ok, but again we aren't certain. Hearts was found wandering the counrty side by her lonesome, and then was picked up by Animal Control, and transported to another animal control due to over crowding. Hearts has been bounced around from shelter to shelter, then to a foster home, she has done wonderul with every person and dog she's met. She is a sweet little gal HOPING for a family of her own. She arrives in New England on 04/08/2023, and is in need of a FURever home, or a foster home. show less

Duffy is 1 of the 8 Little Orphan Annie puppies, these puppies were orphaned and given away from mom when they were only 5 weeks old. They have been in foster now for 3 weeks with a surrogate momma dog, so they can get the best love care and learn from their "Mom", until they were ready to leave the nest. Becasue of their begining, orphaned at 5 weeks old, and spent the rest of their time in a foster home, with a surrogate mom, and there were 7 girls ( which is how many girls were in the orphan group) we have decided to call them after the Little Orphan Annie group, as it was very fitting! Duffy is 1 of 7 girls, there is one boy in the litter (Warbucks). Duffy is black and white, with a speckeld nose, she is young puppy at 8 weeks old, she is medically up to date with age appropriate vaccines, and on monthly prevenetatives. She will be a small medium sized dog full grown, we believe they will all be under 40lbs ( our best guestimate), Duffy is not potty trained, yet, she is still very young and is looking for a family who is ready for puppyhood! Skip Bo, Yahtzee and Charades were surrendered to a TN animal control shelter, Paws Rescue League Inc, agreed to take them in, and we were informed that Charade had someone who was interested in adopting him. So we ended up only taking in only Skip Bo, and Yahtzee the 2 sisters. Skip Bo is a 15 week old female lab mix, with a tan coat and beautifiul eyes, and a personality to match! Her foster family has nothing but wondeful things to say about how sweet and cuddly she is, and how smart she is. Skip Bo is good with kids, dogs, and cats. She is still young at only about 4 months old, and is learning new things everyday! She is not yet fully trained, but she is working on mastering housebreaking. She is great in the crate, and a sweet pup over all. Skip Bo will grow to be a medium - large dog when full grown. She would love friends, dogs and/or children to play with. A yard to run and play in and a family who loves her! show less

Baron is about a two-year old male Treeing Walker Coonhound mix. He is a very sweet boy, with a great temperament. He is great with kids, dogs of all sizes, and even cats! (He was tested with cats, and he didn't pay much attention to them). He is playful, smart and silly. He has come a long way from being a dog that no one cared about, or put any time into. Now he is a happy go lucky, dog, who has learned a great deal while in his foster's home. Baron is dog door trained, and crate trained, and leash trained. Baron would do best with a family who can continue helping him be the best dog he can be! He would love a doggo sibling, and maybe human siblings. He would also love a back yard to run around and play in! Breed experience is a plus! Barons Story: Baron was found as a stray, picked up by Animal Control where he was given three days for an owner to claim him, or a new adopter, or a rescue to save him, before being euthanized (put to sleep),for space. His owners were located and they had let him "loose" because they no longer wanted him, because he wasn't a hunting dog and that was his purpose when they got him. The family felt it was ok to just let the dog go, and not care about the his safety. Once it was discovered that a family wasn't coming for Baron, his only hope was an adopter or a rescue. On the last day of his stray hold, we picked him up before he was to be euthanized. Once in rescue , we got Baron fully vetted, and we learned he was Heartworm positive. We began treatment, and he has now been in his TN foster home for the last six months while he got healthy and kicked heartworms butt! Now Baron is in New England and is very excited to find and meet his FURever family! **Pupdate** Baron found a family in New England, but unfortunately it was not a good fit. Baron needs a home with structure and an experienced owner. Baron needs an active family. He has also been expressing some food posessiveness. We prefer an adopter who is willing to help him overcome this and provide him the training he needs. show less

Drizzle, Glacier, Freeze, Hilly, and Cyclone were dumped by their owners along with their momma Frankie. Paws Rescue League Inc was asked by the humane society if we could take them into rescue. Frankie and her 5 pups have been in TN foster while they were vetted, and cleared for transport and adoption. Drizzle is a 10 week old female German Shepard hound mix, she had a beautiful black and tan coat of a shepard. Drizzle currently weighs about 5lbs, and is expected to be between 40-60lbs full grown. She would love to have a family with shepard experience, and a fenced in yard to play. She would do well in a home with kids, other dogs and cats. She is very young still, and socialization and growing up with cats, dogs and kids will teach her to continue to do well with them. Drizzle is NOT housebroken, she is only 10 weeks old, and is busy practicing leash walking, and housebreaking, and crate training. She is a typical playful, curious pup, who is ready to meet her family so she can grow with them! She is currently in a CT foster home, and is waiting to find her FURever family! show less

Sweet Lagoon is a spayed female, 5 year old Boston Terrier mix, she was found as a stray with 2 other dogs who look very similar to her and are most likely littermates, or parents. (Doppler, and Monsoon) Lagoon is very very sweet girl, who always looks like she is worried. Lagoon is shy on initial meetings but warms up quickly. She is very dog friendly and loves to play with and be around other dogs, she is good with the 8 and 10 year old children in her foster home. We suggest children around that same age range and up. Lagoon likes to be close to her people and take naps on your lap, she also really enjoys spending time outside, she is getting used to a leash, Her previous owners probably never took her anywhere, and she was afraid of the leash at first. She is doing much better with leash walking and we know she will be a pro in no time! Lagoon is passed her puppy years, at 5 years young she's a sweet, full grown adult. She will not get any larger in size than her 18lbs. She will potty outside, she will have accidents when changing to a new routine, if you offer pads during that time she will try to use the pads. Lagoon is smart, and wants to make her people happy. She is shy, and timid at first but after a day she will be your new shadow, and enjoy all the love and attention you will give this sweet little lady! Lagoon is GREAT with cats. Warbucks is 1 of the 8 Little Orphan Annie puppies, these puppies were orphaned and given away from mom when they were only 5 weeks old. They have been in foster now for 3 weeks with a surrogate momma dog, so they can get the best love care and learn from their "Mom", until they were ready to leave the nest. Becasue of their begining, orphaned at 5 weeks old, and spent the rest of their time in a foster home, with a surrogate mom, and there were 7 girls ( which is how many girls were in the orphan group) we have decided to call them after the Little Orphan Annie group, as it was very fitting! Warbucks is 1 of 8 puppies, and he is the only boy in the litter. Warbucks is black and white, he is young puppy at 8 weeks old, he is medically up to date with age appropriate vaccines, and on monthly prevenetatives. He will be a small medium sized dog full grown, we believe they will all be under 40lbs ( our best guestimate), Warbucks is not potty trained, yet, he is still very young and is looking for a family who is ready for puppyhood!
