Sage is momma of the gorgeous 14 puppies from the Herb litter!  She was a wonderful momma to her babies! Now that most of her babies have all gone to their FURever homes, its time for her to find her FURever family! You would be hard pressed to find a dog like Sage. Incredibly sweet, friendly with everyone, people, children, dogs, and cats. She is just wonderful! Very sweet, calm, and easy going temperament. She likes to be with her people, loves affection, and pets and cuddles. She is also very very smart. She is great on leash, she has great recall, and does like to stay right with you on walks. While in foster she learned, "Sit", "Paw", "Down", and "No" very quickly. She is very gentle, and sweet, she is always happy, and happy to greet people.  She is AMAZING in the crate, she seems to prefer plastic crates as opposed to wire kennels. She is FULLY house broken, and does great with letting you know she needs to go potty,   Anyone who spends even 5 minutes with this love bug will fall in love with her. She is soo good with kids, and dogs,  and just ignores the cats, She takes direction amazingly well. If shes smelling somewhere and you call her she will immediatly stop and come back to you, When shes done pottying and playing she will sit by the door and give barely audibale cries. She is going to make one lucky family very happy! show less

Blue Belle is a sweet, friendly, happy girl, whos not met a person she doesnt like. She is very sweet, affectionate and gentle. She is a the only female,  the vet estimates hes about 2 years old. She weighs about 16lbs, and wont get any larger. She is fully vetted, neutered and HW negatvie. We believe she is Twinkles mom, and Bingo is dead. Blue Belle is a happy girl and likes attention from her people. They are all doggy door trained, and crate trained. Good with other dogs, ok with older kids, and cats, she would do well in most homes. Blue Belle came to us along with Bingo and Twinkle just a few days before Christmas, when a good samaritan found them out in the freezing cold. The week of Christmas there was an unusual cold spell in TN and most of the USA, where wind chill temps were in the negative 10 degrees. The good samaritan spent 3 days trying to catch the 3 dogs, on the 3rd day he caught the last 2. He stated to us they were barely moving due to being so cold. We took them in and got them to the vet immediately to make sure they were all ok. These poor babies were not in the best shape when we got them in, their fur was matted and covered with fecal matter, they smelled terrible, and had some raw sores on their paws from standing in their own feces and urine.  show less

Jack Frost, Kris Kringle  and Noel came to Pawws Rescue League the week before Christmas. They were found as strays together, they were presumebly dumped by their owners in the cold. The week before Christmas TN had an extreme cold blast, where temps were below 0 and windchill temps were -10 degrees. This is unusual for TN weather. And sadly, we took in MANY dogs the week before and the week of Christmas. Families dumping their dogs to make room for newer dogs, peopole abandoning litters of puppies in the artic temps not caring if they survive or not.  Luckily these 3 were picked up by animal control, and we pulled them into rescue before they could be euthaized for shelter space ( again the amount of dogs being deserted, dumped and left for dead those 2 weeks was and is overwhelming for shelters and rescues,) Jack Frost is a 15 week old Boston Terrier mix ( we are not sure what else they are mixed with, our vet gave thier best educated guess as to thier bred. They all have adorable features of Bostons, and each have the cutest faces and underbites! He is a typial 4 month old puppy, curious about the world, friendly, playful and sweet. Jack is great with other dogs of all sizes, did ok when cat tested, great with children. Jack Frost is crate trained, and pad trained, and working on perfecting house breaking and he and his siblings are doing wonderful with their potty training, Jack and his siblings arrive in New England this week! 01/07/2023 and are in need of a FURever home, or a FOSTER home!  show less

Lavender is one of 14 puppies from the Herb Litter. Born to Momma Sage on 10/12/2022 in New England!  Momma Sage is a Doberman mix, she is on the thinner/sleeker size, and weighs about 45lbs. We saved Sage when we were called about a Dog dumped on someones property. We were able to find a foster placement for her, and get her to the vet and healthy, unfortunately Sage was heavily pregnant, and would be having her puppies within 3 weeks.  We sent her to New England,  where 3 weeks later she gave birth to 14 beautiful babies!  12 were born over the course of 10 hours, 2 hours after she seem done, she had her last 2 suprizes! Lavender is one of the 7  female puppies, she is black and tan in color,  Being part aussie, she will be on the higher energy side and need a family who can keep up with her and work on her training when she is old enough. Lavener was the first puppy born, and shes also one of the smallest ouppes!  Lavender is the smallest puppy out of the whole litter of 14. Currently 12 weeks old, She was also the first to be born, Lavender is BY FAR the most laid back pup out of the group, She is very quiet, and observent, and calm. She patiently awaits her turn to be pet, all the other puppies rush over and she waits until she is called over. She is also the fluffiest pup out of the litter. We believe she will grow to have a medium coat. Lavender is very smart, one of the first to learn how to sit. She lets you know when she is hungry or thirsty. She plays great with other dogs, and cats, and loves children. Lavender is content just laying on your lap and watching everything from afar. When shes ready to play shes very playful and likes to play "keep the toy away" from one of her siblings.  She will make a lucky family very happy. She is ready for her FURver home and is hoping she gets her christmas wish! show less

Timmy is a neutered male chihuahua mix, about 5 years old. he is a sweet lap dog, whom one day was dumped at the shelter with no warning, and due to no fault of his own. Him and his sibling (not realted), were dropped off at Animal control, with no reason other than they couldnt care for them any longer. Timmy, lost everything he knew that day, his family, his home, his sibling, his friends. His whole life flipped upside down. He eagerly awaited his owners to come back and pick him up, but after a day or 2 he began to realize they were not coming back for him. Sad, lonely and confused, he cried, and cried. The volunteers felt so bad for him, and sent his information to the rescue and asked if we could help this poor boy. We took him into the rescue, and placed him in a TN foster home, where his foster instantly fell in love with his sweet personality. And Timmy, was ecstatic to be out of the scary, noisey shelter. He was so happy to be back in a home setting, to have a lap to curl up on, and friends to play with.  Timmy is good with all people, other dogs, and cats. He is a sweet guy who just wants a family of his own and to be loved again, and a warm lap to nap on. He is house broken, and crate trained, but prefers a dog bed, your bed or your lap.    JANUARY 2023 Timmy is back to the rescue through no fault of his own. He found a furever family, but unfortunately had to be given up due to their new home not allowing animals. Timmy is still the sweetest dog. He is shy at first, but warms up quickly! He is a snuggle bug who loves to be held and be with you. He is show less

Lucy came to Paws Rescue League as an owner surrender. Sadly the family suffered a loss and were not able to provide Lucy with the care and attention she needed, 77They decided to contact us and ask if we would take her in and find her a perfect home. Once we got Lucy into her southern foster home, we made an appointment for her to be spayed. Lucy is now fixed, and has had time to recover afrer her proceedure, and will be heading to New England on 01/07/2022. Lucy us an 8 month old full bred Vizsla, she is very friendly, and playful, she is great with other dogs, and great with people, we are told she does ok with cats, but we have not car tested her while shes been in rescue.  She is still very much a puppy. Since we got her in our care our foster parent has notcied that she is not fully housebroken, she does have accidents in her crate at times ( pee). We suspect this was part of the reason she was surrenderd to us. Lucy will need a family who can work with her on mastering her housbreaking, and give her the physical and mental stimulation. Lucy is a med/large breed of dog, she currently weighs about 40lbs, shes not expected to get much larger than that.  Lucy has quite a lot of interest and we are processing her applications right away in hopes we can arrange for her to go directly to her adopter and not bounced around into foster homes, and confuse her more.  show less

Goofy and his 5 siblings were dumped in a blue laundry basket at the front door of animal control, 5 minutes before they closed on Halloween night.  The local Animal Control was completly full, and would have to euthanize the puppies first, since they were dumped by their owner (owner surrenders are the first to be put to sleep). The local Humane Society called us and said "We have called numberous rescues, everyone is full, is there anyway you can help take in this family?"  - We were closed for intake at the time, due to the overwhelming amount of dogs we currently have in our care, and very few dogs getting adopted.  We couldnt turn them away, with no where to go, and possible euthanaisa.    Thankfully 3 foster families stepped up to take these sweethearts in, and gave them the gift of actually living their lives, But their rescue journey is not over until they are adopted by loving families.    Goofy is around 3-4 months old, he is an australian cattle dog mix, adorable puppy! He ADORES children and other dogs. He loves to play with his brother goofy who he is fostered with. He wants to play with the outdoor cats, but is gentle and a bit timid of them. He loves to play and explore, every day he is learning more and more! He has been practicing being a big boy and using a doggy door to potty outside. Goofy is medically up to date, and has passed his health exam and is ready for his FURever home.    He would love to find a family before the holidays, so he can bond and adjust to his new routine, and get his christmas wish of finding a family.  He arrives in New England on 12/03/2022 and is hoping to find his FURever home, or a foster home. show less

Maggie along with 8 other chihuahuas we saved, came from a hoarding situation. With the help of the local animal control, we saved 9 chihuahuas out of 15. The other 6 chihuahuas went to another rescue.  Maggie is shy, and timid at first, when she and the others were found, they were living in terrible conditions. Neither Maggie or any of the other chihuahuas knew what a toy was or how to play with one, our fosters have told us they sleep on the hard floor, and under tables. They probably never had the luxury of sleeping on a soft bed, and being cuddled on someones lap. These poor pups never got to be dogs. That all changed the moment they got their freedom ride and went to their TN foster homes. Maggie was given time and patrients, and once she came around shes been nothing but spoiled, and loved.Maggie has learned she likes to be on peoples laps, and to be around the nice people. She enjoys getting treats and love, and really enjoys the company of another dog to help make her feel confident.  Maggie is pregnant, as are the other 2 female Chihuahuas we saved from the hoarding situation Maggies estimated due date is late January. She is looking for a temporary 2 week foster home, until another one of our foster homes opens up. OR she is looking for a medical foster, a vet, vet tech, vet school student would be wonderful foster families!  Maggie is pad trained, and trained to go outside, we ask all adopters to expect accidents the first few days while a dog adjusts to thier surroundings and new routines, Maggie is doing well practicing leash walking. She is crate trained, good with other dogs, nervous around large dogs ( we do not think she or his siblings ever met dogs asided from the ones on the property they were saved from). Sissy did ok when cat tested. We suggest older kids, 10 years and up, that understand to give a dog space, and becasue she is pregnant. Maggie is not fixed yet, due to her being pregnant when we saved her, and no open surgery appointments in the south. Once has her puppies, and they have finished nursing she is able to get spayed, and then go to her FURever home! Maggie arrives in New England on 12/03/2022 and is in NEED of a foster placement! show less

Gunther, Tucker, and Walter are 3 month old male Great Dane/Lab mixes.    We were alerted to a group of 4 black puppies roaming the roads in TN. We had been asked to help and take them in, we began our search for them. Every time we got a call about their location, our volunteers would arrive and there would be no signs of the puppies. Volunteers left names and numbers with constuction workers, police officers and anyone in the area, for them to contact us if they spotted the puppies. We located the original owner of the puppies, who said she rehomed them, and the new family must have dumped them. She asked if we could take them into rescue, which we agreed we would if we could locate them. The puppies were starving, the first report they were on a farm eating the cow feed. Highway patrol told us the puppies had been running near the highway and had almost got hit numerous times. Finally we got a tip after 4 days of searching that a lady had pulled over and put all 4 puppies in her car. We couldnt locate this woman, so we put out a plea on social media. We got a message the next day that 3 of the 4 puppies were in a yard. We had volunteers rush to get the puppies. We immediately took them to the vet for testing, and medication,   Walter and his siblings are typical puppies, they are learning about the world, practicing potty training, crate training, and how to be the best dog they can be. Walter was the puppy who was the most nervous when we saved them. All 3 puppies are now healthy, happy and ready for FURever homes! These pups are gorgeous, and will be large dogs, due to their start in life, we would suggest a fenced in yard, and large breed experience show less
