Basil found her self at a kill shelter after her owner got sick, and was on hospice. None of her family came for her, so she had 3 days for someone to adopt her or a rescue to save her. Not only is she a black dog, which seem to be the least choosen dogs when someone adopts from a shelter, but she is also an older gal, at about 5- 6 years old. Knowing the odds of someone choosing to adopt her were slim, Paws Rescue League saved her before she was euthanized. Basil is a sweet 5-6 year old female lab mix, who currently weighs about 80lbs. She is about 20lbs oveweight, and we have since put her on a diet to try to get her girlish figure back. Basil is good with everyone, super sweet, and easy going. She is good with other dogs, and unphased by cats. She is good with children, we recommend older children, or children who know how to respect a dogs space. She is crate trained and fully housebroken, walks well on leash. She has a very relaxed, easy going personality and a great disposition. She is just happy to be out of that scary shelter and around people who are kind to her. She is looking for her furever home in new england. show less

Emma was saved from euthanasia from a kill shelter, she was found as a stray with another small dog Odie, who we also saved. They had 3 days for an owner to claim them, or a rescue or adopter to save them and get them out of the animal control shelter. Emma was terrified in the shelter, and the staff used a catch pole to pull her out which scared her emmensley. Emma is a super sweet loving girl, who is shy and timid, and gets scared in situations like Animal Control, and the vet. But at home with her people she is nothing but love. She is wonderful with cats, she wants to play with all the dogs, and is friendly with everyone. We suggest no kids or older kids due to her fear at times. An expereineced adopter would be amazing for her! She would love a yard to run around in, and other doggo friends in the home to help build her confidence. Emma is about 30lbs, she is a medium sized dog. She is about a year old, and is spayed and UTD on all her vetting and HW negative. She is crate trained but definetley preferes to sleep on a dog bed or couch or with you. She is housebroken. She is currently in her New England foster home waiting for a family of her own. show less

Guinness and his sister Amstel and Stella Artois were found as strays near a shopping center. Their owner had dumped the three puppies in the parking lot of a shopping center becasue they no longer wanted to care for them. Concerned citizens called animal control who came to pick these puppies up. Once at animal control the state law gives them 3 THREE days time for them to find an adopter or rescue. If no one adopts, or no rescue takes them, they are euthanized to make space for other strays that need to be picked up. THREE DAYS. Paws Rescue League saved these 3 babies with the help of the local Humane Society. They were placed in a foster home, and recieved age appropriate vet care. They will be heading to New England the second week of April 2022 to find their furever homes. Guinness is a typical puppy, loving, playful, curious, and friendly. He is not yet potty trained, or crate trained. He is good with all people and all other animals. Their foster parents say he is just the sweetest little guy. All 3 puppies just love to play and cuddle with people. show less

Tuesday was found as a stray and picked up by animal control in TN, along with another dog, that we have saved named Monday. In TN, the county we save dogs from, they are a kill shelter. Meaning they will euthanize for space. Each dog has THREE DAYS for its owner to come claim them, or an adopter or a rescue to pick them up before the 3 days are up. Or they will be euthanized for space. As there are SO MANY other dogs on the street, that need to be picked up and placed in the shelter to see if an owner, adopter or rescue can be found for those other dogs. Paws Rescue League waits until we know that no one is coming for the dog, no one has tried to adopt the dog and no other rescues have tried to save the dog. We work alongside the local humane society and we ask that they call us before a dog is euthanized, so we can do all we can to save that dog, and many others. Tuesday was found as a stray with a dog we have now named Monday. Tuesay is about 1-2 years old, male sheep dog mix. He is long haired, and was pretty dirty and matted when we saved him from the shelter. He was scared and timid at first, the shelter is a scary place for dogs. He was placed in his TN foster home, where he has slowly come around. He loves other dogs, and finds comfort in them. He is nervous at first meeting new people but is a complete sweetheart. He is great in the crate and doesnt make any noise. He is housebroken, and a submissive type personality. He would do good in a quieter home, less busy with a family who can help him build his confidence and to see the world in a positive light. He is cute as a button, but the poor boy has not had the best start to life. show less

Apple is a 3 year old female chihuahua, she has a merle coat, and weighs 11llbs. She is the mom of the Apple litter, to Granny Smith, Fuji, Gala, Braeburn, Cortland and McIntosh Apple, but she is still just a puppy herself! She has a very sweet personality once she gets to know you. At first she can be a bit nervous and frightened, but once she realzies you are there to love her and care for her she opens right up! Apple was surrendered to a shelter, with a male chihuaha named Pecan, whom we believe is the dad of Apples babies. She does have one baby who has hair, not fur, so we are suscpecting there is more than 1 dad to the litter of pups! Apple is a sweet girl, and gets excited when she sees her person(people) and taop dances, and stands on her hind legs to try to greet you. She adores the foster mom, and is ok with the foster dad, and their kids, but really Apple love her foster momma! She is crate trained, and potty trianed and pad trained. UTD on all vetting, and will be spayed prior to adoption. She was saved on Christmas day along with 18 other dogs, who would have ended up being euthanized if Paws Rescue league didnt work with the shelter that was over corwded and needed help saving some of the dogs. Apple arrived to New Egland pregnant, and she had her babies on New Years day! Apple and her babies are doing fantasitc and are safe, and comfortable in their foster home until the puppies reach 8 weeks old. Then Apple, and her puppies will be ready to go to their furever homes. show less

Cass is a 6 and a half year old female Pug/Boston terrier mix. She used to have a home, and a family who loved her and cared for her, but her mommy passed away a few months ago. Cass and her sibling found themselves alone in a shelter, their whole worlds tipped upside down. Paws Rescue League Inc tries to save all dogs, not just easy to adopt puppies. Cass is a loving girl who deserves to have a family and live! She has many years left to give a lucky family. A little about Cass's personality.. She is FULLY house broken, and crate trained and she has perfect indoor manners. She knows most of her basic commands. She is passed the puppy stage and does not chew furniture or items that are not hers. She is sweet, and friendly, loves everyone, of all ages. Woman, men, kids, she loves them. She is good with other dogs, of different sizes, she is unphased by cats and does not mind them around. Cass has a laid back temperament, she really is just looking for a happy home, and a warm bed at night, a few treats here and there and some head scratches. Cass walks well on leash, and wants us to let you know she is NOT an avid hiker.. she is more of a calm stroller. She is 27lbs, and can easily fit and adjust into any size home. She is a couch potato and is the perfect company to binge watch your next series! She loves to nap, and she is very quiet (except when she snores) We keep telling her that her NEW family is out there, we just have to wait for them to find her! She is going to make some lucky family very happy! show less

Rain and Rufus are 5 month old American Staffordhire Terrier/Austrailian Cattledog mixes. Rufus and Rain were brought to animal control as owner surrenders. Which unluckily for them, was in Greeneville TN, which has a 24 hour hold on Owner Surrendered dogs. After 24 hrs if someoen doesnt come and adopt them, or a rescue doesnt take them, they would be euthanzied. Lukcily for them, Paws Rescue League Inc saw them, and saved them with the help of the local humane society. Rufus is a handsome boy with a black and white coat, like a tux. He is 5 months old, a typical puppy where he loves to play with everything and everyone. Hhe is currently having a wonderful time at his CT foster home. But he would love to have a family to call his own. He is crate trained, and is working on mastering potty training. And doing VERY well, as hw will go to the door when he needs to potty. His foster mom says Rufus and his sister are such well behaved puppies, its shocking to her! Rufus love all dogs, people, children, and would do fine in a home with dog saavy cats. show less

Bear and Lovey were being given away, they were from an "oops litter" someones husky had. We were sent infomation about the family who was giving them away, when we contacted them they had 2 puppies left, which we proptly took and placed into foster care and got them to the vet. Bear is a 9 week old Husky mix (mom)/ mastiff mix (dad) mix. He is about 15lbs, and is your typical puppy. He is learning about the world, and how to interact with people, as all puppies this age do. He is good with everyone and everything, all people, of all ages, all dogs, cats and other animals. An adopter with puppy experience is prefered, so he can get the proper guidance as he grows. show less

Floyd was brought to Animal Control as an owner surrender along with 2 other dogs. The Animal Control we save dogs from is a kill shelter. Dogs who are "Surrendered by their owner" have 24 hours to have someone adopt them, or a rescue to save them. We saved Floyd and his brother Roy from the euthanaisa list, from death row. To give them a chance to live. To find a furever family who will love them, and not discard them like trash once they have no use for them anymore. Floyd is a good boy,he is a little shy at first, but warms up very quickly. his TN foster family love him. He is fully housebroken, and crate trained. He is great with other dogs, she has not been cat tested yet. He is good with children, we suggest children 8 years and up who can respect a dogs personal space. He walks ok on leash. This boy is so grateful, to have been saved, he shows his gratitude to his people every chance he gets. He will make a family very happy. show less

Piper is a 6-7 month old female black mouth cur mix, she was found and picked up by animal control. Upon entering animal control she was terrified and shook in her kennel and would not approach anyone. Piper was placed on a 3 day stray hold (after 3 days if an owner or a new adopter, or a rescue does not get Piper, she would be euthanized for space). Paws Rescue League pulled her on her 3rd day and got her to the vet. She is a shy and timid girl, but sweet and loving as well. She is just getting used to her TN foster home, and will be available in New England in a couple of weeks. She is Spayed,heartworm negative, UTD on all her vetting, vaccines, and monthly preventatives. Piper is crate trained, and working on potty training. She is good with people, but shy at first, she is submissive with other dogs, and has yet to be cat or kid tested. We will update once we know how she does with children and cats. show less

Murphy is a 12 week old male Retriever/shepard mix. He was found lost and alone wandering a rural neighborhood. He was taken to animal control in hopes to find his owner. A dog at animal control needs to be claimed by its owner and picked up within 3 days if the owner does not pick the dog up, someone needs to adopt the dog or a rescue needs to save the dog. No one came for Murphy, so Paws Rescue League saved him and placed him in a loving foster home in TN, while he was vetted and ready to head north to his furever home. Murphy is now looking for hus FURever home in New England, he is still very much a puppy, learning about the world each day. He is only 3 months old and has so far he has done wonderfully with his potty training, his foster said he will alert you when he needs to go do his business. He is good on leash for walks, and he is very good sleeping in a crate each night. He had been practicing his basic obedience! He is very sweet, cuddly and smart and will make a lucky family very happy. His adopters should be patient, and have prior puppy experience (with house breaking, teething, and basic commands/behaviors). show less

Alaska is a female Siberian husky mix She was found as a stray wondering around TN after a snow storm. She was found by one of our rescue volunteers, who followed stray protocol, called aniaml control and we placed a hold on her if an owner didnt come forward for her, Alaskas coat was severly matted and packed with snow, once we took her out of the shelter she had to have her whole coat shaved down to the skin. Her fur was so matted, none of it was salvagable. We believe she may be deaf. She is awaiting her physical exam to be checked over by the vet and we will know more about her hearing. She is a sweet friendly dog who wanted to say hello to everyone in animal control shelter, and she stopped at every dog kennel on the way to hers to bow, and begin play with each dog. She truly is a gem. And will make an family very happy. She will need an active family, and a fenced in yard where she can safely play. show less

Capri was found as a stray dog in TN, running with Colbalt (who we assume to be her sibling or some relation). They were picked up by animal control and placed on a 3 day stray hold to see if an owner would come and claim them. No owner came for them, so Paws Rescue League Inc. saved Colblat and Capri, so they would not be euthanized after the 3rd day. The animal control we pull from is a kill shelter, that euthanizes dogs for space. Volunteers do all they can to advocate for the dogs that get picked up or dumped at Animal Control. Capri is currently in a TN foster, she will be making her way to New England on 02/12/2022. When she will be looking for both a foster home, to stay in while she awaits a furever home. What is current foster has to say about Capri " Colbalt and Capri absolutely love children. They are both vert sweet and wiggly from head to toe.Colbalt is a little more brave and out going, and Capri a bit more timid and shy. They both love going on walks, and walk well on leash, and dont pull. Colbalt is a very well behaved dog. Capri has not met my cats yet, but will update when she does. Capri has been around my horses, and ducks and is unbothered by either of them. Capri did ok with my 2 large dogs, she was a bit nervous at first, so we are doing slow introductions as we go. Capri is crate trained, and house broken, no accidents since he arrived. When you tell her to go in the crate she will go right in. Both Colbalt and Capri are very quiet when in their crates. They would make lovely additions to many types of families, and would fit well in most homes. Both are very very good dogs. show less

The owner wanting to do all he can to protect them decided it was best for them to find furver loving homes where there safety was not in question. Gracie is a super sweet, submissive girl. She is quiet, and shy but she is very friendly after warming up to you after a few minutes. She is a medium sized dog, about 45lbs or so. She is spayed, UTD on all her vetting. She is crate trained, and house broken. She does great on car rides, and is good on leash. Gracie is good with all people, and kids and other dogs (unsure about cats at the moment). She is currently in a foster home in New England waiting for her furever family to find her. show less

Odie was sweet with everyone at the shelter Odie is a super sweet loving boy, who loves to lay in your lap and be with his people all the time. He enjoys trying to run as fast as his little legs can go when he goes out to play in the yard. He would love a home with a yard so he can continue practicing for races! He is wonderful with all 4 dogs of differnt sizes in his TN foster home. He did well with the children in the home as well. But we suggest older children who can respect a dogs space. Odie is about 25lbs, he is a dachsund/drever mix, he is a small/medium sized dog. He is about 2-3 years old and is neutered and UTD on all his vetting and HW negative. He is crate trained but definetley preferes to sleep on a dog bed or couch or with you. Odie is housebroken. He is currently in his New England foster home waiting for a family of his own. show less

He is very friendly after warming up to you after a few minutes. He is a large sized dog, about 65bs or so. He is neutered, UTD on all her vetting. He is crate trained, but prefers to lay on a dog bed/couch and close to his people, he is house broken, and does good on car rides, and is good on leash, hes not very used to leash walking so he does pull a little bit, and will lay down in the grass. Prince is good with all people, and kids and other dogs (unsure about cats at the moment). He is currently in a foster home in New England waiting for her furever family to find him. show less

Lovey and Bear were being given away, they were from an "oops litter" someones husky had. Llina was saved from a kill shelter ( Which is how Paws Rescue League saves 90% of our dogs.) Llina had 3 days for a rescue or adopter to take her our of the animal control shelter before she would be euthanized. We got her out and placed her in a foster home in TN. Her foster home has young children, large dogs and small dogs and a cat. Llina does wonderful with everyone, she is a huge sweet heart and loves to cuddle on a bed or couch with you. Lilna is spayed, and UTD on all her vetting, HW negative, and housebroken and crate trained. She is currently in her new New England foster waiting for her furever home! show less

Oakley is a 11 week old female German Shepard mix puppy, She was found as a stray, alone by herself. Dogs who get picked up by animal control in Greeneville TN have 3 days for someone to adopt them or a rescue to save them. We saved Oakley and placed her in a safe, loving foster home, and got her the vet care she needed. She is now in New England in her new foster home waiting for her furever home. Oakley is practicing potty training, and basic commands like "sit", "down". "paw". She is still very young and very much a puppy. She is playful, energetic and sweet. She will grow to be a large dog. An adopter familiar with the breed is prefered. Oakley is UTD on all her vetting, and spayed, and ready for her furever home! show less

Clifford was brought to the shelter after his mom, and family had moved away and were not able to take him with them. His Mom left him with her older parents, who were unable to care for Clifford. Clifford was brought to the local county animal control as an owner surrender. Unfortunately owner surrendered dogs only have 24 hours to find a new adopter or a rescue to pull them out of the shelter, before the dog is euthanized (put to sleep), because the shelter does not have the space for the amount of stray dogs and unwanted dogs that get dumped at AC. Clifford lived in a home, with a woman and a man, toddlers and an infant. The owners told the shelter Clifford has been rasied with small children and does very well with them. His only drawback is his size, he is a big boy weighing in at 100lbs. He is dog friendly, gets along well with others. He loves people, and wants to be hugged and cuddled. He is a very big baby, who is hoping to find a family who will never give up on him. He is crate trianed, housebroken, neutered and UTD on all vaccines and vetting. show less
