Crash and Flapjack, are two Rottweiler/hound brothers who came from the same home. Their owner dumped them at a kill shelter. When an owner takes their dog into the shelter becasue they no longer want to care for, or have time for the dog, those dogs are euthanized (killed) first. Stray dogs are given 3-5 days for an owner to find them, or to be adopted/ or rescued. Crash and Flapjack were running out of time, no one was stepping up to takes these two sweet big boys in. We had our foster volunteer pick them both up for their FREEDOM ride out of the shelter! Crash and Flapjack have been in a foster home, with a few other dogs, and they are doing fantastic. Crash's foster mom has this to say about him: "Hey there, Im Crash, or as my pawrents affectionately call me Bandicoot,. Im an older boy but still as spry as any youngin, I can be set in my ways, but also eager to learn new things. Sometimes I like to talk, which the rescues ladies call me "old man grumble". In new environments it can take me a day or two to wam up, but i do warm up quickly, and once I warm up, I am a lap dog, albeit a big lap dog. ( My foster parents keep telling me Im not a lap dog, but how would they know? Theyre not even dogs! ) I love to snuggle up on the couch with my people, and get pets, and head and neck scratcies. I dont LOVE bathtime, but WHO really does? Am I right?! Its not terrible, and once im in the tub I accept my fate, But i woudlnt consider it on my favorite things to do. Walks on the other hand.. I live for those! Fresh air, get to stretch my legs, and smell ALLLL the smells! Sometimes I can get a littel excited and pull on the leash if I catch a good smell my way, In my life before rescue I didnt get to meet many new friends, but since rescue I have met many new friends, and I am learning every day how to have better etiquite when meeting new people and dogs. Some times I forget its not just me and my brother flapjack, and i can be a little bossy. I do best with lower energy dogs, I met a couple of human puppies ( The humans call the kids), ans they were loud, and i was worried someone was hurt, but after i decided the human puppies were ok, and no one was getting hurt, I dont mind them all the much. I love all my people even the human puppies, and dont want to see any of them hurt, so i can be protective when i feel i need to be. I really want to make my people happy, and im eager to learn, giving my praise, love and some tasty treats I will do my best to learn eveything you want to teach me. Crash is housebroken, crate trained, needs a treat to get him to go into the crate, he is ok on leash and gets better each day with more practice. He likes to play fetch. Crash would do best with a more laid back home, who can take him on short walks, or have a fenced yard he can go romp around and play in. He would do best in a home with submissive, low energy dogs, or no dogs. Has not been cat tested. Good with kids, but suggest kids who are 10 years and up, who understand how to give a dog space. Im full grown and wont get any bigger! I am hoping to find either my FURever home or a temporary foster home when I arrive in New England on 11/19!
