"Hope is the thing with fur!" Hey! I'm Emily, a ~10-12 week old spayed female Aussie mix puppy with a blue merle/white coat and a heart full of joy. I have a pink nose that the humans think is super cute! I have to admit, when I was first born, they thought they were getting the actual Emily Dickinson, the poet, not the puppy! But it turns out, I'm more of a "wag my tail and snuggle" kind of poet, rather than a "write sonnets" kind. As part of the Poet Litter, I'm still finding my muse...and it's usually a ball or a squeaky toy! I love everyone I meet, human and furry friend alike, and I'm always up for a good cuddle or play session. But let's be real, I'm still a puppy. I need some guidance and training to become the best version of myself. I'm eager to learn, so if you're willing to invest some time in teaching me good manners, I'll be your best student! I'm medically up-to-date (age appropriate) and working on crate training. Potty training is on my to do list, but I'm still working on it - let's just say I'm "hope springs eternal" that I'll get it right next time. Although Paws Rescue League is primarily a dog rescue, from time to time we do take in cats! 🐱 Meet Tiggie, a super sweet ~5 month old spayed female brown tabby kitten! Tiggie was picked up as a stray in east TN as a very young kitten, along with her siblings Grayson and Smoke. They are all very playful and sweet kittens, but Smoke (adopted) and Tiggie are the most outgoing of this group. These cuties are being fostered with a dog and older cat and they get along well with everyone! Tiggie is medically up to date, litter box trained, and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. She is a fun girl who can't wait to find her furever home! 😺 Young kittens do best in pairs, and two kittens are actually LESS work than one, as they will entertain each other and are less likely to get into mischief! Meet Maybella, a gorgeous spayed female Catahoula mix with the prettiest eyes and blue Merle coloring! She also has the cutest pink speckled nose! She is about 9 months old and is a petite girl, weighing about 25 lbs currently. She is expected to grow to a medium sized dog. Maybella is an energetic girl who would love a fenced in yard of her own to get out her zoomies! She is a wonderful companion and would love to join an active individual or family on all their adventures. She would make an excellent running and/or hiking buddy! She is also very smart and extremely food motivated, we think she would be a great candidate for training games and maybe even agility! Maybella is a friendly girl who gets along with other dogs, people, kids, AND cats. She is very playful with other dogs, however she likes to play a bit rough, which can be too much for some dogs. Because of this, we think she would do best in a home with another young, high energy dog with a similar play style, or as an only dog. Maybella does not like to share food or bones with other dogs (she was very underweight when she was taken into rescue, food possessiveness is common in dogs who were found in starving conditions 😔), but this is easily managed by feeding and giving high value treats separately from other dogs in the home (we always recommend this anyway). She loves attention and will follow her humans around the house. She also loves belly rubs and walks nicely on a leash. She is good with people, other dogs, and older kids 8+ (she's a little shy, so unpredictable movements by young kids may make her nervous). She has not been cat tested, but we feel she would likely be fine with cats. She is housebroken (although will likely need some time to get used to the schedule in a new home) and crate trained. She will be getting spayed and medically up to date prior to adoption - we are accepting apps for her now but she’s not *quite* ready to go home yet. I may not know everything about being a perfect pup (leashes are still a work in progress, but I'm getting there!), but I do know that I'd LOVE to have a fenced-in yard of my own where I can run, play, and get out some zoomies! I also love to play fetch, I could fetch all day long! Meet Reinhardt, a handsome adult male mini schnauzer, weighing about 13 lbs! He came to us with his “sister” Maze. Reinhardt is a very sweet guy - a bit reserved with new people but comes around quickly! He is good with people, dogs, and older kids (has done well with all ages, but would do best in a quieter environment). He hasn’t been cat tested yet. He is mostly housebroken (some marking, however he has just recently been neutered, which will likely reduce this behavior), and crate trained. He was also neutered and received a dental cleaning. We were told he is 4yrs old, although his dental records suggest he may be older (could be due to poor nutrition as well). Meet Wasabi, a SUPER sweet 5 month old female Shar Pei mix puppy with the cutest brown/pink nose! She currently weighs about 30 lbs, and we expect her to grow to a medium sized dog. Wasabi came into rescue with her two sisters, Dumpling and Wonton (both adopted). Wasabi does not understand why she has not found her furever home yet, and neither do we! Meet Thor, a handsome 1.5 year old neutered male Boston Terrier/terrier mix! This guy is smaller than he looks in photos, weighing about 25 lbs! Isn't he just aTHORable?! ☺️ Thor is a very sweet, friendly social butterfly who is good with other people and kids (not cat tested, so we are unsure how he would do with cats). He has done well with most dogs he has met in foster homes etc, however he can be dog selective. We believe a suburban environment would be best for him - city life is too chaotic and he prefers to be zen! From Thor's current foster: "Thor is a handsome smushy softy! He is always making little piggy sounds and his short tail reminds me of one too. He is full of energy and never stops moving (except to sleep of course). He really enjoys running around, play battling his foster brother and chewing on rubber toys. He fears nothing. Did great at the vets, the groomers, the pet food store and is not afraid of my dogs twice his size. He is happy to see people and will climb on you to give hugs and kisses. Meet Zazu, a sweet ~5 year old neutered male chihuahua/small terrier mix, weighing about 15 lbs! Zazu was picked up as a stray by animal control in East TN. This poor boy was neglected, his nails were curled and growing INTO his paw pads 😢 Thankfully, we were able to get him out of that situation and he has received lots of extra TLC. Zazu has been flourishing in his foster home and he is now ready to find his furever family! Zazu can be a little timid at first, but he warms up quickly. He is a mellow, lower energy dog who is content to nap on the couch for a good part of the day, and he loves to burrow under the blankets! He is low maintenance and easy, and he really doesn't require much to be happy. Zazu would be a great choice for a first time dog owner or someone who is looking for a low maintenance companion. He is good with other dogs, bur he prefers dogs that are a similar energy level (he does not appreciate rambunctious puppies in his face lol, and we don't blame him!). He has not been cat tested, but we feel he would probably do fine with cats. We recommend older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space. From Zazu's current foster: "Zazu is the best little guy. We call him the old man in the house because he truly just wants to curl up in his crate or on the couch. He does love to play and has some pep. He has no problem living with my dogs but he doesn’t play with them. He is not a fan of my foster puppy. So a house with dogs that will bother him is not ideal. He is fully potty trained and crate trained. He loves to take walks and walks great on a leash. He is vocal when he wants something which I just love. He loves to eat and will do spins because he is so excited. He loves people and kids. He is just a joy to have. Meet October, a spayed female lab mix weighing about 52 lbs! Her estimated age is 2-4 years. This sweet girl is the loving mama of the B litter pups.
