Meet Spruce, a handsome 2-3 year old neutered  male chihuahua! Spruce was rescued from a hoarding case in east TN, and he and 9 other chihuahuas (several of whom were pregnant) were taken in by Paws Rescue League. He spent over a month in his TN foster home decompressing and learning to trust people, and he is now doing the same in his New England foster home. Spruce is a timid, nervous boy who takes time to warm up to new people, so he will need someone who is patient and gentle with him, and who will work with him on continued socialization. Once you earn his trust, he is a very sweet boy!  He is good with other dogs, not cat tested but we assume he would be fine with cats. Due to his shyness, we recommend older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space. From Spruce: "Hi everyone!  Spruce here!  I’ve been with my foster mom for a while now and I want to make sure no one forgets about me.  Truth is, I’m a scaredy-boy, but I’m getting bolder.  Mom says I’m the best at playing red light - green light, because I follow her everywhere and then freeze when she looks at me.  I didn’t leave my crate for two weeks when I got here, but now I play with toys, chase my foster brothers, do playful scoots with mom, and swat her for pets since I’ve seen my brothers do it.  Also, I need to be RIGHT NEXT TO YOU when I sleep.   Mom says I remind her of a baby fawn, and thinks I have a bit of dachshund in me.  If you have the patience to work with me, I promise you won’t regret bringing me into your home!" Spruce is medically up to date, crate trained, and pee pas trained.  Apply to meet this special boy today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! show less

Meet Willa, an approx. 1 year old spayed female chihuahua/min pin mix! This petite little girl weighs about 8lbs, and her favorite place to be is in a warm lap! She can be a bit shy at first, but once she warms up, she is a total love bug! Willa gets along well with other dogs, people, and dog savvy cats. Due to her small size and timid naiture, she would do best in a child-free home. From Willa's current foster:  "Meet Willa! I'm not sure how so much personality is packed into such a tiny dog! It took her a couple days of spaced out and brief interactions to trust me and open up. Now that she is familiar with me she likes to be with me and on my lap. She gives me kisses. She is not afraid to tell me what she wants. She is very quick and feisty, she looks like a little chocolate bunny hopping around! She is so tiny I could probably carry her in my coat pocket. She is longer than she is tall, and her ears are like satellite dishes on her tiny head. Love her gorgeous eyes and little pink nose!" Willa is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. Meet Jurgs, a super cute 4 year old neutered male standard wire-haired dachshund, weighing about 35 lbs! He is a VERY food motivated boy who enjoys snack time a little too much 😬! His foster mom is working on helping him lose a few lbs to get him to a healthier weight for his size. Jurgs was surrendered to Paws Rescue League (through no fault of his own) when his owner was no longer able to care for him. His family made sure that he went to a rescue, to be certain Jurgs would find his PAWFECT family! This little guy is very friendly and gets along well with other dogs, people, and kids. He does have a high prey drive and is not good with cats, chickens, or small animals (he thinks they would make a nice snack 😋).  Jurgs' foster describes him as a "happy little ball of energy!". He is a snuggle bug who LOVES to give kisses. Meet Elsa, a super sweet approx 5 year old female chihuahua who has a heart of gold! Elsa was rescued from a hoarding case in east TN when she was pregnant, and she and 9 other chihuahuas were taken in by Paws Rescue League. Elsa is the loving mama of Axel and Dieter, born on 1/1/25, who have both been adopted. Elsa is ready to follow in their footsteps and find a furever home of her own! Elsa is a shy girl and takes time to warm up to new people, but she wants so badly to love and be loved. She was the absolute best momma to her puppies - she is so patient, loving, and gentle. From her current foster: "Elsa is an absolute doll. I've had her for over a month now and while she is shy to warm up, she is totally worth the wait. She loves cuddling up in bed with a cozy blanket and when you get home, she'll dance with excitement. She will also demand belly rubs at all times so I hope you're ready! She will blossom with a patient adopter who gives her time to build confidence and come to you when she's ready. A perfect, sweet, gentle girl. As you can tell from her pictures, she doesn't mind getting dolled up and wearing cute outfits - she even grabs her pink sweater and brings it to me sometimes, almost like she's asking to put it on. She loves to gently wrestle with other pups, but is very good at ignoring other dogs when she just wants to relax!" She is good with other dogs, not cat tested but we assume she would be fine with cats. Due to her shyness, we recommend older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space. Meet Finn, an adorable male Havanese mix! He weighs about 15 lbs! (pending age estimate) Finn is a friendly pup who gets along with dogs, cats, people and kids. While many of our other pups have enjoyed playing, Finn would rather be by your side (on your lap, actually) as he really enjoys being with his person. Could that person be you?! He is medically up to date (will be getting neutered soon), housebroken, and working on crate training. Apply to meet this sweet boy today! Thank you for your support and understanding! show less

Meet the Highway 68 litter: Genesis, Livingston, Miller, Lantana, Maryetta, Pomona, and Pevine! One of the siblings (Livingston) completed a DNA test, and the results came back as 54% poodle, 12% Australian Cattle Dog, and 10% German Shepherd (see full results in photos). All of the pups in this litter have scruffy coats except for Miller. We expect them to grow to medium sized dogs.  These sweet babies were found abandoned in a tote bag on the side of the road in East TN when they were just a few days old 😢 They were named after roads in the area and dubbed the Highway 68 litter. Pomona is a typical happy, playful puppy who loves everyone! Good with dogs, cats, people, and kids.
