Smudge is a 1 year old female, border collie mix. She has a medium-long coat lenght. When she was found as a stray she was in neglected conition. She had matts in her beautiful coat, she had fleas. Snudge has been to the vet now nad has been given montlyh preventions for HW and flea and ticks. Smudge is a sweet, friendly, playful young border collie mix who is eager to please and would love nothing more than to spend her days in companionship with her humans and compatible dogs. She loves to hike, walk, fetch a ball, run and play chase and tumble with nearly all dogs she meets, play with her stuffed animals, chew her "bones," do dog puzzles, find hidden treats, learn new tricks, and cuddle next to her humans. As a border collie mix, Smudge loves to work and be active, but as long as she has two good, long walks, hikes, or dog park outings a day, she is happy to hang out at your feet or by your side while you work, cook, watch tv, etc, the rest of the time. She prefers not to be alone, and has some separation anxiety, though with time this is improving, and she has gotten more comfortable venturing independently into another room to nap or chew her bone, or hanging out in her pen quietly while we eat dinner or socialize in another room. She graduated a six-week basic obedience course with flying colors – she loves to be given tasks and commands to learn, and is highly treat-motivated. She is also potty trained and crate trained, going happily to her crate and sleeping there all night as long as long as it's in her owners’ room, though during the day, she'd rather be confined, if she must, in her pen or a dog-proofed room rather than her crate. Smudge enjoys meeting people and playing with other dogs at the dog park or other outdoor settings. She is consistently described as “sweet,” “beautiful,” “well behaved,” and “well trained” by everyone she meets – from people at the dog park to family friends, dog walkers, and dog sitters. She does well with people indoors when introductions are calm, positive, and at her own pace. Expereinced adopter preferred!
