Meet Thor, a handsome 1.5 year old neutered male Boston Terrier/terrier mix! This guy is smaller than he looks in photos, weighing about 25 lbs! Isn't he just aTHORable?! ☺️  Thor is a very sweet, friendly social butterfly who is good with other people and kids (not cat tested, so we are unsure how he would do with cats). He has done well with most dogs he has met in foster homes etc, however he can be dog selective. We believe a suburban environment would be best for him - city life is too chaotic and he prefers to be zen! From Thor's current foster:  "Thor is a handsome smushy softy! He is always making little piggy sounds and his short tail reminds me of one too. He is full of energy and never stops moving (except to sleep of course). He really enjoys running around, play battling his foster brother and chewing on rubber toys. He fears nothing. Did great at the vets, the groomers, the pet food store and is not afraid of my dogs twice his size. He is happy to see people and will climb on you to give hugs and kisses. His smile is pretty sweet but his snarly tooth face is even cuter. We think he might be a Boston Terrier & some type of Bulldog maybe 🤔. Whatever he is it's stinkin cute." Thor is medically up to date, crate trained, and housebroken. A 100% good doggo! Apply to meet this special boy today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! show less

**SEPTEMBER SPECIAL** This dog is eligible for $100 off the listed adoption fee, valid through the end of September! Offer applies to select dogs only, and adoption must be finalized by 9/30/2025 to take advantage of this offer. Meet Zazu, a sweet ~5 year old neutered male chihuahua/small terrier mix, weighing about 15 lbs! Zazu was picked up as a stray by animal control in East TN. This poor boy was neglected, his nails were curled and growing INTO his paw pads 😢 Thankfully, we were able to get him out of that situation and he has received lots of extra TLC. Zazu has been flourishing in his foster home and he is now ready to find his furever family!  Zazu can be a little timid at first, but he warms up quickly. He is a mellow, lower energy dog who is content to nap on the couch for a good part of the day, and he loves to burrow under the blankets! He is low maintenance and easy, and he really doesn't require much to be happy. Zazu would be a great choice for a first time dog owner or someone who is looking for a low maintenance companion. He is good with other dogs, bur he prefers dogs that are a similar energy level (he does not appreciate rambunctious puppies in his face lol, and we don't blame him!). He has not been cat tested, but we feel he would probably do fine with cats. We recommend older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space.  From Zazu's current foster:  "Zazu is the best little guy. We call him the old man in the house because he truly just wants to curl up in his crate or on the couch. He does love to play and has some pep. He has no problem living with my dogs but he doesn’t play with them. He is not a fan of my foster puppy. So a house with dogs that will bother him is not ideal. He is fully potty trained and crate trained. He loves to take walks and walks great on a leash. He is vocal when he wants something which I just love. He loves to eat and will do spins because he is so excited. He loves people and kids. He is just a joy to have. He could be a keeper if I didn’t have three dogs he is so easy and I just love his personality." He is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained. Meet Darla, a SUPER sweet and laid back ~7 year old spayed female coonhound mix! Darla was the loving mama of the 10 C litter pups (coonhound/Great Pyr) born in 9/2023. She was adopted in TN and returned 2 years later, due to no fault of her own 😞 When Darla first came into rescue 2 years ago, she tested positive for heart worm and Lyme, she had mastitis, as well as a uterine infection, and a medication reaction. She was treated for everything and was adopted, only to be returned a couple years later 😭 She has gone through so much and is still the best girl. She is currently overweight at about 78 lbs, however we have been working on getting her to lose some weight since she came back into rescue. Although she totally rocks the mom bod, her health is our top priority, and she does have some extra weight to lose.  Darla is a mellow, chill girl who is very much a couch potato type of dog! She will make herself right at home, claim her spot on the couch, and relax the day away 😴 She enjoys going on walks, but will take a LONG nap afterwards. She curls up next to you to watch TV and loves to be pet. She is a very well mannered, low maintenance dog who will make a wonderful addition to just about any family.  She really doesn't require much to be happy!  Darla is good with other dogs, people, and kids. No cats for this lady. She is medically up to date, housebroken, and crate trained.  Darla is a really great pup who has been let down by humans too many times, and she is ready to find her REAL furever home this time. He had been terribly neglected, with an eye infection/severe dry eye and patches of missing hair due to a flea allergy. Both issues have been treated and he is feeling much better (also on preventatives so no more fleas/ticks), and he's back to his handsome self! He is now ready to find his furever home to spend the rest of his days!  Benji is a gentle, loving boy who is good with other dogs, people, and older/dog savvy kids (due to him being a bit older). He has not been cat tested, but we feel he would likely be fine with cats. He is mellow and laid back, a very low maintenance dog who really does not require much to be happy. He enjoys an easy game of fetch to get some steps in for the day! From Benji's TN foster:  "I fostered Benji in Tennessee and I felt like I was cheating, he is the easiest foster in the world! Meet Smokey, the 3-year-old neutered toy poodle mix with a heart of gold! This 10lb sweetpea was rescued from a backyard breeder/hoarding situation in East TN, where he was one of many small poodle mixes in need of love and care. Despite his rough start, Smokey has blossomed into a loving and affectionate companion. Named after the beautiful National Parks, Smokey's name suits his stunning looks and gentle soul. This cutie loves to be loved on and adores snuggling up next to you in bed. As a lap dog at heart, Smokey will melt your heart with his sweet nature and desire for human connection. After experiencing the transformative power of love and care, Smokey is now thriving in his foster home, learning the joys of being an indoor dog surrounded by love. He's a social butterfly who loves other dogs, people, and kids! He has not been cat tested, however we feel he would likely be fine with cats. He is medically up to date, and housebroken. It helps keep him out of mischief and ensures his safety when you're not around to supervise. Apply to meet this special boy and give him the second chance he so deserves! Thank you for your support and understanding! show less

Meet Zion, an adorable ~1 year old neutered male toy poodle mix, weighing about 10 lbs!. Zion was rescued from a backyard breeder/hoarding situation in east TN along with several other small poodle mixes, many of whom were in rough shape (matted and unkempt), including one pregnant female.  We cleaned up these babies, vetted them, and placed them in loving foster homes, where they have been absolutely THRIVING while learning what life as an indoor, loved dog is all about! Inspired by their beauty, we named this group of pups after National Parks.  Zion is now being fostered in New England and is ready to find his furever home! Zion is a super sweet, friendly boy, bursting with excitement and joy! He is young and playful, and gets along with everyone! He loves people, other dogs, and kids.  He has not been cat tested, however we feel he would likely be fine with cats. He is medically up to date, mostly housebroken, and crate trained. Apply to meet this special boy and give him the second chance he so deserves! Meet Barbara, an adorable 11 week old mixed breed female puppy from the "B" litter, born to the lovely mama October (52 lb lab mix). We expect these pups to grow to medium sized dogs.  October was found with her 6 newborn puppies under floor boards inside an abandoned house in east TN. Over 25 dogs were rescued from this property, having been left to fend for themselves 😢 (sadly, this type of situation is not uncommon in this area). Although the B litter had a tragic start, you wouldn't know it - as they are typical happy, friendly puppies who love everyone! These resilient pups are ready to put their pasts behind them and find their furever homes!  Barbara is a super sweet girl who gets along great with other dogs, cats, people, and kids!  Young puppies are like blank slates - with proper training and socialization, they will grow into wonderful dogs.  She is medically up to date (age appropriate), and working on crate and house training. Apply to meet this darling girl today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. Meet Wile E., a strikingly handsome 1 year old neutered male Aussie mix, weighing about 40 lbs!  We think he may have some husky in him as well.  His unique breed mix resembles a coyote, hence his name! This sweet boy was picked up as a stray in east TN and taken into rescue. He was placed in a loving foster home and has just arrived in New England, where he hopes to find his furever home soon! Wile E. is timid at first, but he warms up quickly.  He is tentative but curious with new people.  Once he knows you are safe, he is very sweet and playful too!  He is good with people and dogs.  Due to his shy/timid nature, we recommend older kids 10+ who know to respect a dog's space.  He has not been cat tested, so we are unsure how he would do with cats. He is medically up to date, crate trained, and housebroken. With patience and love, Wile E. will thrive and become a loyal companion. Those beautiful eyes are irresistible! Can you resist his charming gaze?!  Apply to meet this special boy today! Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable.
