*SPONSORED ADOPTION FEE* Ducky is a special soul looking for a special home. Ducky is a carrier of Feline Calcivirus and needs a home with no other cats, or cats that already have the disease, as it is highly contagious. FC is not contagious to humans or dogs, but it can be spread by humans to other cats.  Not only that, but Ducky's inner nose is shaped differently, so he tends to have more productive sneezes.  Before diving into the clinical aspect of Ducky's life, it is important to share that he is the most gentle, affectionate cat we've ever met, and he will be an incredible companion. Due to the risk of him spreading FC with other cats, Ducky has to be in isolation while in our care and is not on the adoption floor. Please reach out if you are interested in meeting this absolute lovebug!  What does this mean for Ducky? Ducky needs a home that understands his condition and is willing to ensure he receives the extra care he needs, like taking him to the vet to have his sinuses rinsed out. Ducky is more likely than an average cat to need vet visits: "Caring for a lifelong carrier of Feline Calicivirus (FCV) involves managing symptoms with supportive care, ensuring their comfort and hydration through soft, warm, strong-smelling foods, and preventing spread by separating them from other cats and maintaining hygiene in your home with pet-safe disinfectants. While there's no cure, keeping your cat's environment calm and using veterinary-prescribed antibiotics for secondary infections can help them live a comfortable life."  Read more about FC here: https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/baker-institute-animal-health/research-baker-institute/feline-calicivirus show less
