This big goofy sweetheart is Noggin! Noggin gets his name based soley on the fact that... well... hes got a big noggin! His head to body ratio may not be quite right, but what really matters is his huge heart and ability to love people no matter what!  Noggin came to us as a stray so we don't know much about his past. We do know that he is a silly guy who is very smart and eager to please his humans. Noggie Doggie is estimated to be about 1.5 years old, and our best guess is that he is a Cane Corso and Labrador Retriever mix. He has some of the best qualities of each of those breeds. He is confident, loyal, and intelligent like a Corso; and friendly, playful, and gentle natured like a Labrador. Noggin came in as a stray with two other male dogs. While we have not done any formal dog introductions with him yet, we feel he might benefit from a canine companion in his forever home as he seems like a social butterfly. It is unknown how Nog would do with kitty companions but with correct introductions it is possible he could do just fine! Because of his larger size and playful nature, we are recommending Noggin goes to a home with kids 8+. We feel that Noggin is a bit too unaware of his size for small children at this time.  Noggin does great for baths and nail trims. He needs some leash work and basic training, which our lovely staff has been working on and Noggin has proven to be a quick and eager learner!  Another great feature of this boy is his adorable ears, one pointy and one floppy! If you are looking for a cuddle buddy to keep you warm on these cold winter nights, Noggin might just be your guy!  show less

It’s easy to fall for Foxy’s sweet face, but we ask that you read his full needs first before applying. After everything he’s been through, this sweet angel has some specific needs. Foxy is a gentle, sensitive dog who came to us from a difficult past. He has lived with many other dogs before, but very little of his life was spent around humans. Because of that, he is still learning what it means to trust people and how to feel safe in a home. Much of his time spent at the SPCA-HC has been learning about leashed walking, the outdoors, and recognizing humans as friends. Foxy absolutely shines when he has a canine friend by his side. Other dogs are his comfort, his guides, and his role models. For this reason, Foxy must go to a home with at least one confident, friendly dog. A canine companion is what will help him continue building confidence and discovering that life with people can be full of kindness, comfort, and fun. Since arriving at the shelter, Foxy has already made incredible progress. He is discovering the joy of treats, starting to explore his surroundings with curiosity, and learning that gentle voices and patient hands are nothing to fear. With time, he will continue to grow into the amazing companion we know he can be. Foxy needs a family who understands that his journey will not be overnight. He will need patience, love, and consistency. But with the right dog by his side and a family willing to cheer him on, he has every chance to blossom. Do you have a confident dog who could be Foxy’s best teacher and friend? If so, you might be the perfect match. Submit an adoption application to get the process started. Once approved, we can schedule meet and greets. Apply here: spcahancockcounty.org/adopt show less

When Lorelei first arrived at the SPCA, she was scared, angry, and unsure of the world around her. With time, patience, and lots of gentle socialization, she has blossomed into a truly sweet girl who now seeks out love and attention. From hiding in her carrier and playing paper shredder with hands that dared to touch her - this sweet girl now seeks out attention and even drools with comfort when getting loved on. Lorelai still prefers a nice, cozy hiding spot and sometimes runs out of “kitty minutes,” so she’ll do best in a calm home with experienced cat owners who understand her boundaries. But when she feels safe? She absolutely adores being pet, and once you start petting her and see her happy drools, we promise you’ll be in love.  This gorgeous long-haired beauty will also need someone to help keep an eye on her fur so she can stay healthy and tangle-free. In return, she’ll offer purrs, head bumps, and the sweetest little meows you’ve ever heard.  Lorelei has come such a long way since her fearful first days, and now she’s ready to meet the patient, loving family she deserves. Could that be you? Given the amount of work it took to earn her trust, we ask that you have an approved adoption application before taking her to a meet and greet room.  If you think Lorelei might be the perfect new companion, apply today at spcahancockcounty.org/adopt. show less
