I was a stray picked up in Franklin, but despite being a bit timid, I'm a very nice boy! I come right out for my caretakers and even the staff member that writes these bios for us animals. I actually kind of liked being picked up and put in a lap for a bit, so once I calm down, I may very well enjoy lazy afternoons with snuggles, along with plenty of playtime, of course! I'm cautious as I explore a new surrounding, though, not like some cats that hop right into and act like they own the place. I would probably be all right with other cats as long as I have proper, slow introductions. If you're ever curious what that means, just ask the people at the SPCA; they should know plenty about it! When it's my turn to walk out of the kennel, I took my time and very carefully explored, making sure there wasn't anything dangerous around. The kittens in a nearby kennel were kind of distracting so I went over and sniffed their space for a while, then gave them a few hisses to show them how manly I am before I walked away. They didn't seem that impressed so maybe I need to work on my roar. I am very eager for human attention, though! Forget the treats, I want the love! I like head scratches and back scratches and just being snuggled; I'll probably like it more as I settle into a real home, too! show less

DSH, Brown tabby Female, 12 years old "Hey there! Nice to meetcha! I'm Etta, and I want OUT of this cage. I'm not going to bolt or anything, but I will tell you all about how I am so ready to be in a home again. I was living in a home for about six years, but then allergies struck. So here I am! My age is an estimate based on a veterinary check, since we're not actually sure how old I am; old enough to be a senior but spunky enough to be a younger senior! And I will tell you all about it! "I am happy to meet new people, though I haven't had a chance to show the shelter how I do with kids so they don't know about that one. I'll keep that my little secret for now. I have made it clear I am not too crazy about other cats or dogs! I hiss when I see or smell them on you. I would much rather be an only kitty. If I have to start over with a new family and home, it might as well be purrfect for my desires and needs! "I would love to just hang out with some humans, shoot the breeze and talk about whatever it is you humans talk about, and have plenty of yummy munchies, toys, and naps. I'm getting old to be an outdoor cat so I'd rather stay inside as much as possible, please. Just consider me your new best furriend! Gosh, I hope people start applying soon. I can't wait to get out of this shelter and rule a roost again!" show less

I may be a bit skittish at first but I'm not a mean cat. I'm easy to handle and once I realize you're coming to pet me, I actually get excited. I do love head scratches, and I don't mind being picked up every now and then. My old prowling grounds when I was a stray for about two years were near the Small Animal Clinic in Ellsworth, so I'm timid around new people but pretty fine with animals. I would like to be an indoor/outdoor cat, maybe with a big fur family to come back to when I've had my fill of hunting and playing outside. I just really like the fresh air and soaking up some sun. Whenever the humans here open the catio door, I come RUNNING. The SPCA is wary about outdoor cats by main roads because of how many get hit by cars, but they do adopt out indoor/outdoor cats because some, like me, would love to live way off the main road and explore fields. I've been doing fine inside at the shelter, though, and might be happy as an indoor only cat too. As long as you have some big windows I can stare out of! And with some sunny floor spots I can bask in! I'm about 4 years old and healthy, with a sleek black coat and a subdued, sweet temperament. I'm looking for some fun, not trouble, and I've already proved I know how to hang around a territory since I was becoming something of a staple outside SAC until someone caught me and decided it was time to give me more of a life. I hope people aren't too blinded by cute kittens and would give a scared and shy former tom-cat like me a chance to have a home soon! I realy am a sweet boy. I promise. show less
