My name is Nikki. I'm a gorgeous long-haired tortie/calico, and although I'm 7 years old and technically older than Jack, I love having him around as sort of a security blanket. Besides, I think he needs me too. He would get into too much trouble without me. So I really hope you don't mind that we need to be adopted together. I spend most of my days hanging out in high places, like the cat trees or on shelves. It helps me feel more secure, especially here in the shelter. Over time in a home, after I'm given a chance to adjust, I would likely start exploring more, but for now, I'm content in my little cubby. I am not as prone to getting sick as Jack, but I do seem to have a tiny bit of a bug going on. I've been receiving eye drops for an eye infection - here's hoping it makes me feel much better and it was just "sympathy pains" for Jack. I know shy and older cats aren't people's first pick, especially when you add bonded to another cat already into the mix, but I hope you might still want to meet me and my brother. Come meet me at the SPCA of Hancock County at 141 Bar Harbor Rd, Trenton, ME 04605! Please note that right now, to keep all the humans that care for me safe, visits are by appointment only. So fill out an application on me and they can schedule a meet-and-greet at your convenience. I hope we're a pawfect fit! And if we're not, you might meet your next pet while visiting me, so it's worth it to fill out that application! If you aren't in a position to adopt right now, you can still support me through our Pet Pal program. Hello! My name is Sage. I'm a really sweet girl who LOVES her toys. In all honesty, I quite like my princess pink collar and being surrounded by toys - wouldn't it be nice to be a spoiled princess forever? I think so! I'm only two years old and was brought to the Small Animal Clinic stray holding facility back in April of 2021. I would much rather go to a home than be in a shelter for long, but I do like all the friends I've made here. I would be happiest as a single child, no other pets. The humans say I have a "high prey drive" - what they really mean is the world is my toy and I am gonna play with that thing! So no kitties or small animals for me. I'm not too fond of other dogs either. They are smelly and want my toys. Stinky dogs! I love humans, the only caveat with small children is I do need to learn to share my toys maybe a little bit more. So if a small child were to try and take things from me, I might push them aside and be like NUH-UH, that's MINE. Of course, training with a professional dog trainer would likely help with this kind of behavior. But to start with, it would be better if I went to a home with older or respectful children or just adults. Does that make me sound difficult? You should come play fetch with me and let me kiss you, and you'll see it's not so bad. I just want to be your baby girl. Would you like someone to spoil? show less

Hello! My name is Peep, a suiting name for a delicate little girl like me. I was found by one of the SPCA staff members when I started hiding under their shed during winter storms. She set up an feral box for me so I could have some safety, and I started hanging around every day for the next three weeks while she tried to find an owner for me. I was so scared, and I would only come out of hiding at night when no one was looking, but I got my name because when I thought she couldn't see me, I would press my nose up to the window and stare inside to watch her cats. They looked so happy and content, and I wanted to be with them! Eventually I was caught and brought to the SPCA, and I've been spayed and treated for worms and brought up-to-date on my shots since then. My ears were full of yuck too, so they cleaned those up for me. I feel much better, and I am so much happier. It turns out my name is extra suiting because my meows are like little peeps. I happily chirp to greet my caretakers every day, and love making biscuits. I seem to be curious about other cats, and have not been reactive to dogs going through the shelter so far. I'm a very calm girl once I get to settle in, so I would be a purrfect fit for all kinds of homes. Come meet me at the SPCA of Hancock County at 141 Bar Harbor Rd, Trenton, ME 04605! I was found as a stray in Maryland, but it's easy to see that I have been well-fed and love people.  I am very calm and sweet, as you can tell from my picture!  The animal care manager thinks I am PURR-FECT. I am totally unfazed when other kitties growl at me, and I likely would be a wonderful family cat, as long as the children remain gentle.  I find dogs distasteful in general, but if your dog is polite I can co-exist. I have diabetes, which is managed with insulin. The shelter staff here are more than willing to show you how to give me this insulin. I don't like the insulin very much, but because I'm such a good girl, I behave well for it - I just try to hide a little when I know it is time for the poke. Having diabetes does mean I should be an indoor-only kitty, because I need insulin after I eat food and you don't know what I might get into if I am allowed to roam. Also I cannot be allowed to free feed on food. If my future family already has kitties, this can be solved by offering small portions to us kitties throughout the day and taking away the food after mealtimes. Or you can invest in a microchip scanning feeder, like the SureFeed Microchip feeder, and have one programmed to each kitty so we can't get into each other's food. Plenty of options! The final thing you should know about me? I am a happy drooler. Like when I am totally content and blissfully purring on you, I will drool away. This may be due to the fact I have a need for ongoing dental work and maintenance. Or maybe I just have a lot of saliva. Whatever the case, I would love to meet you and spend some time snuggling and hanging out. show less
