Staffie Terrier, golden fawn Male, 6 years old Medium/Large Special notes: very loyal and protective of his people, not good with other dogs or cats, needs to be watched carefully outdoors “I bet I know what you’re thinking, ‘Oh boy, another pittie that isn’t good with dogs or cats, he’s dangerous.’ I know some people think my breed is the worst. I get that. But you know what? That don’t matter because I’m FUN. Sure, I’m not good with other dogs or cats or animals in general; too high of a prey drive, but I’m super fun with people. I love belly rubs, as attested to by everyone that’s met me. I just really like to ham it up, you know? YOLO, which I just think is fun to say. YOLO, YOLO, YOLO. “I’m not one of those hyper crazy dogs though. I am just as happy vegging out with my people. We could watch TV all day and I won’t judge you. Then again, are people still judging each other for that nowadays? Anywhoozles, I’d make a great buddy for an adult household with a fenced-in yard, if I’m gonna dream up a perfect home. Little ones can’t control me on my leash if I see another dog or cat or something that I might want to chase, so I need someone who can handle me. “I know it sounds like a lot of ‘no this, no that’ with me, but I hope someone can look past that and see that I’d be a great buddy to hang out with and spend a life with. I just need the right home. Some of you might remember me from before, and the family that took me was super great, but something happened, I maybe was a bad boy toward a neighbor’s animal when I got loose one day, and now I’m here for my own safety and happiness. Yeah, I can’t help it. I just got a naughty streak. But I swear, that’s the worst of it! Honest to Rocky! That’s me. I’m Rocky.” Can't adopt Rocky but want to help him out? You can always make a small donation to support him. If you want to do even more, you can consider sponsoring a kennel for a year. These options and more are available at our website, spcahancockcounty.org/donate If you would like to know more about Rocky, please feel free to get in touch with us through email or by calling us at 667-8088 from 11 am to 5 pm. Hello there, humans! A few months ago, I came to the SPCA with a dozen other cats from a semi-feral colony. I was a wreck at first and seemed like I hated people, but I was just scared. If you give me time to relax and settle in and get to know you, I even like being petted! I have pure green eyes without a fleck of yellow in them, something I think makes me unique. I love other cats, especially calm ones, older ones, or just frightened ones because I know how that is. I would make a good companion for another cat, and I'm bound to keep you entertained with my intelligent stares and wandering around. I just hope someone adopts me soon. It gets lonely being the last of my clan here, even though I enjoy spending time with Hokie especially. I make him share a shelf when I feel like it. I think it's good for him to share. Because I am shy and take time to acclimate, I really don't think I would want to go to a house with young children. I might be okay with it if they're really good and understanding about my need for space and to take things at my own pace. I am not bothered by the dogs going by in the hallway but haven't actually interacted with a dog in a long time, so it's hard to say how I feel about them nowadays. But I DO love other cats. I've met a lot of cats in the community room since coming to the SPCA, and I don't fight with anybody. If you want to win me over, just give me some space, talk to me quietly and sweetly, and just hang around. Once I get used to you, you might be surprised when I pop out to greet you and ask for some love!   Monet is a great girl! Shelter staff report that once she knows you, she'll come say hi and she actually really enjoys being pet. You just have to earn it! Her fur is really soft and she has beautiful eyes.  show less

No, despite what you might be thinking, I'm not a bully. I actually really like other cats. Dogs, that's a different story. I guess if dogs were quiet and left me alone, they might be okaky. But cats, I like those, even if I had been bullied before in a previous home. I'm a young guy, only about one and a half years old, but I have no problem sharing my room with other male cats here at the SPCA. In fact, I like to follow Henry around and headbutt him! He's a cool guy. So I would love to have a nice, confident kitty sibling ... as long as they don't steal my treats and are nice to me! I'm actually quite the sensitive soul. I don't like loud or sudden noises, and I get stressed out when humans sneak up on me to do this thing they call "petting". I would rather humans keep their distance and throw me treats and yummy food until I decide if I want to be friends with them or not. I don't think I would like little humans very much - I understand they're even noisier than the adults and might have grabby hands! How scary! Part of why I need a stress-free home is because the doctor who did my neuter (what was with that, by the way??) found I had a Grade 2 heart murmur. I guess it's not so bad but still, who wants to get scary news like that? My doctor tells me cats like me can still live long and healthy lives but that it is important to avoid stress triggers. But I have so many! I really don't like the shelter because it's so noisy and active. Maybe someone will take me to a quiet place, perhaps one where I can chill out and relax with a kitty sibling or two? Oh, and feed me LOTS of treats and wet food. That will definitely, definitely keep my stress levels down. show less

I was a stray picked up in Franklin, but despite being a bit timid, I'm a very nice boy! I come right out for my caretakers and even the staff member that writes these bios for us animals. I actually kind of liked being picked up and put in a lap for a bit, so once I calm down, I may very well enjoy lazy afternoons with snuggles, along with plenty of playtime, of course! I'm cautious as I explore a new surrounding, though, not like some cats that hop right into and act like they own the place. I would probably be all right with other cats as long as I have proper, slow introductions. If you're ever curious what that means, just ask the people at the SPCA; they should know plenty about it! When it's my turn to walk out of the kennel, I took my time and very carefully explored, making sure there wasn't anything dangerous around. The kittens in a nearby kennel were kind of distracting so I went over and sniffed their space for a while, then gave them a few hisses to show them how manly I am before I walked away. They didn't seem that impressed so maybe I need to work on my roar. I am very eager for human attention, though! Forget the treats, I want the love! I like head scratches and back scratches and just being snuggled; I'll probably like it more as I settle into a real home, too! show less
