Oh my gosh, it's a new friend! I love chatting with new friends. My name is Jewels, and I'm 8 years old with loads of happy energy. I don't have a lot of experience doing normal dog things, so I mostly love to follow my favorite people around, which is everyone, and talk with them. Sometimes my barking annoys people and makes it hard to find the right home for me, since I can be a noisy girl and don't quite know how to quiet down. My ideal home would be with a settled person who has a home away from the neighbors so I can bark to my heart's delight, and maybe work on lowering my voice a little with positive reinforcement but with enough time and space to learn. I am not leash trained, and I do not really like car rides unless someone is going to sit with me and reassure me that it is all going to be okay. Cats are WAY too confusing to me - they're like another species or something, so I would just spend way too much time barking at them and likely upsetting the cats to live with them. You might notice I have a bit of a hobble - I did not have much activity in my previous home, and my hind end is a bit out of whack. But a vet check assured the nice people here that I'm not in pain and do not need special care at this time for that. My vision is questionable at best, and sometimes I show signs of early dementia, like my incessant barking, as well as pacing in circles, but I am a good girl with a big, loving heart. What do you say? Think you could come by and meet me? show less

My name is Haven, but I respond better to Hay-Hay, especially by those I consider my friends - and I can be very selective about who I call my friends. My ideal home is with someone who has a lot of familiarity with Caucasian Shepherds and similar breeds and understand the seriousness of my unique needs. If you know, you know, but I'll try my best to explain some of that. I tend to click with very specific individuals and require multiple meet and greets to sort of accept people, and those meet and greets need to be conducted with the individuals whom I have accepted. For instance, I still don't like all of the shelter staff and volunteers who regularly see me! I cling to a few of them and prefer if they do all of my caretaking and outings, no matter how much the others try to warm into my heart.  I have a bite history and cannot be left alone with children under 15 years old. I need to be in a home and space that is quiet and respects me, where there aren't frequent visitors. I would be happiest as a guard dog, patrolling my land and keeping it safe. I love my family and protect those I accept into my bubble, and having "work" to do keeps me feeling fulfilled and happy. I don't have any experience as a farm dog, but I am curious and also like to be challenged. Someone with enough dedication might be able to train me to do such work. I am sweet and playful with the people I trust but multiple factors have made it difficult for me to reach that point with most people. My personal space "bubble" and independence are extremely important to me, so I NEED people and other animals to be aware of that. My humans need to be super well-versed in understanding canine behavioral cues to know when I've reached my limit. I can accept dogs and cats, but these need to be slowly introduced to me by the human that I trust. I should not be left alone with a dog or cat without proper introductions. I am not going to be an "easy adopt", and please don't take it personally if you are not "the right fit" for me. I have super specific needs, and if you don't fit them, that doesn't mean you're a bad person. Please just keep helping spread the word about me so I can find the house I'm searching for. show less

Before you go any further reading about me - you should know who my foster momma is! She's the adoption lady at this place she calls "the shelter" I don't know what that is, because she hasn't let me stay there before. So if you get to adopt me you must be something special! She also wants you to know that I HAVE to go with one of my siblnigs, I am way too scared without their support and happiness. Besides my helicopter mom - I had a hard start in life. I have a stray birth mom, who did her absolute best, but with how little resources she had I ended up being smaller than a kitten half my age. I was sick, small, and scared. I'm LOVING life now and have a crazy amount of playful energy though! It does mean that I am not spayed yet, I'm too small for some vaccinations, and it's very possible there will be long term consquences to this hard start.  I am the most shy out of the litter. Now that doesn't mean I don't like people - I'm the most unsure if I'll be safe with you. When I know I'm safe, I'm very sweet and I'll play all day. You may even catch me purring when I see my people walking in! But, when there's loud noises, too much movement, or fast moving people I become very nervous and I go hide. I'd love a family that has a calm environment where I can learn that nothing bad is going to happen to me. I have lived with big dogs, and as long as they aren't too crazy I should manage another dog okay. I'm obsessed with other cats! Like seriously, obsessed. I'd prefer a family that isn't going to have kids in the near future, that way I can settle into my environment and have a few years of love with my people to develop self confidence!  show less
