Hi there, you may call me Princess Grace, or Grace for short. My friends may call me Gracie. I am reserved but not afraid of people - in fact, it may make my day if you take the time to give me attention. I'm okay with some time alone at home so I can nap while my person is away. I've also lived with other cats for most of my life and I really don't mind them as long as they don't antagonize me - I have no interest in playing because I'm too mature for that. My petite size and quiet nature has left me overlooked when visitors come by - they just don't know what a gem I really am. I was surrendered due to my medical issues, including peeing outside the litterbox and now I have received veterinary care where they discovered I am in the beginning stages of kidney failure, which can be managed with diet and veterinary care as needed. The sound of special food may scare you off, but I promise I am so worth a little extra care! Also my litterbox issues have been a thing of the past since coming to the shelter, but they believe in "full disclosure" - how rude! I would be happiest with someone who is quiet and gentle and takes a little extra time to get to know me. I love having my cheeks and chin rubbed, and I adore being kissed on the top of my head by my friends. In fact, I even like just that kissy sound you humans make sometimes. I have been so sad since coming to the shelter, and nothing would make me happier than finding a wonderful new family to go home with! show less

Before coming to the shelter, Java and her daughter, Mocha, had likely never been outside the home they grew up in before, including having never been to a vet. With their world having been so small, Java has been (understandably) easily overwhelmed by all the new places and people and things she's getting to experience now. However, with a good dose of patience and compassion, the girls have both started to come out of their shells and express their individual personalities and characteristics. Java is largely enjoying her new-found independence- though she was very acustomed to her daughter's presence, it's likely she's had multiple litters before and at this point her life, mama could use a break. That said, we do know Java has been ok with other small dogs before, and would likely be fine with respectful cats. Because Java startles a bit easily, it would be best if any children in her future home were at least 12 years of age just to ensure everyone's on the same page as far as giving Java her space goes. This girl has shown us she enjoys her stuffed toys very much, is food motivated, and has a fierce personality if you give her the chance! Now that Java is spayed and has recieved all necessary veterinary treatments, she's ready to get the heck out of the shelter with her new forever-person. Could that be you? show less
