Hello there! My name is Socks, and you can tell I love my food because I maybe put on some extra weight. Still, offering me a treat and a chin scratch are the quickest ways to win my heart over! My mom had to move into assisted living, so unfortunately, I couldn't move with her. I'm used to a quiet life and enjoy easygoing company, so lots of raucous kids are not exactly my jam. I would love to spend some quality time with someone who works from home or with a senior. I may be a senior cat, but 11 years is still quite young - I have plenty of life left in me! I am quite sweet if you treat me right, so I hope you come by and become my furriend ... maybe even my family! Come meet me at the SPCA of Hancock County at 141 Bar Harbor Rd, Trenton, ME 04605! Please note that right now, to keep all the humans that care for me safe, visits are by appointment only. So fill out an application on me and they can schedule a meet-and-greet at your convenience. I hope we're a pawfect fit! And if we're not, you might meet your next pet while visiting me, so it's worth it to fill out that application! If you aren't in a position to adopt right now, you can still support me through our Pet Pal program. Monthly givers in our Pet Pal program get letters, photos, and more directly from us animals - you can even mention you want to hear directly from me. Join today! show less

Here is the story of a girl who maybe had a spark of cattitude and a ton of purrsonality. I became a tripod kitty in my first home when I needed emergency surgery and my family asked the SPCA for some help. But in the end, I just really didn't like living with other cats, and it was only worse now that I had three legs, so I was brought to the SPCA to find a new home. Once there, I kept people on their toes by being super sweet and friendly sometimes and a hissy little spitfire other times. Needless to say, Spark suits me very much! Then I was adopted and stayed in a home for almost a year, but when I developed a UTI, I got defensive and my family worried I was being aggressive to the kids. I was actually trying to tell them I really didn't feel good so don't annoy me, but anyway, now I'm here again. I'm feeling better now and still like to keep staff on their toes! I choose when and by whom I will be loved, but I can be great with kids when I want to be. I just need them to listen to me when I have something to say, that's all! On the other hand, I do not like other animals - they should go elsewhere! Part of why I get moody at the shelter is because there are so many stinky animals all around. Ugh! I would much rather be an only-cat, pampered by a family that appreciates my sass and spunk along with my love. Visitors and noises don't bother me too much, as I still have a lot of confidence and am a great judge of character, if I do say so myself, which I will. So if you think you would like a cat that talks back and lets you know what she wants, a kitty that will love you as much as she will train you, and if you think you can be a good human, I would love to be yours, if you will be mine. show less
