I used to be a really happy and confident cat, but then when I was declawed, I just never felt the same. The constant pain makes me think the litterbox is a scary place, so I go outside of the box a lot. Still, I'm a really nice guy who is happy to meet new people and give you kisses and even little "love bites". Well, maybe my bites aren't so little - sometimes, I get really excited and will give a good old chomp to show how much I love you! So I may not be great with little kids. I hope my next family is really patient and works with my potty issues so I can still have my best life. The nice people at the shelter here suggest being really patient with me. It's hard when the first digits of your fingers were cut off; the pain is chronic! Right now, they've tried using fine clay litter, Cat Attract litter, and Cedarific litter as well as adding the Cat Attract litter to those with some success, but overall, I still associate the litter box as a place of pain. Recently, I went to the vet for some constipation issues... and they found out that not only was I constipated... but I had some urinary crystals. So now I have a special diet of wet food ONLY and it has to be a prescription urinary food (to dissolve crystals and prevent urethra blockages). Right now they are trying out Hill's c/d wet food for me, but another option is Royal Canin S.O. wet food. It's a bit pricey, but I have to have it. Otherwise I might get a crystal blockage and end up in the emergency vet! Yikes! I don't want that! The good news is that some of my inappropriate elimination (peeing, pooing) issues might have been due to constipation and crystals... so this new food might help me get back to better litter box habits! While I was never perfect in the box with Cedarific... I was pretty dang good. But then this happened! So I kinda started going everywhere... but the humans here think it's just because I was sick, and I'll be better soon! show less

"Finding a home for me and my sisters, Runt and Baby, is going to be a struggle, since it's hard enough for senior pets to find a furever family in a shelter let alone THREE together. But we need to stay together. Runt is the cuddler of us, whereas Baby has some spit and fire in her but she just really needs us older cats and some security. Truth is, shelter life is hard when you were used to being in your own house before! Sadly, we were in bad shape when we first arrived, and that's why I've been shaved - I'm actually a longhair kitty but needed to get a ton of yucky mats off." "I am shy and hide a lot, but I don't mind if you reach in and pet me, and a gentle voice and demeanor can make me purr. I would love a gentle human to watch over me and my sisters, and would undoubtedly come out of my shell more when I'm in a loving home. I was bothered by children before when they were rough with me, so I may not be comfortable in a home with kids under 10. I do great with other cats, though, and am bound to be a lovebug once I calm down. I don't mind being held and snuggled and protected."   Sampson is a scared, sweet boy who likes being held and protected from the world. If you pick him up, he nuzzles into your chest or neck or wherever he can to feel safe. He flinches sometimes when you pet him, but we believe he still has some bad memories from poor treatment years ago. Despite his mysterious and hard past (one of his eyes is darker than the other, which according to the family who brought them in, is from abuse from some bad neighborhood kids years ago) he still seems willing to consider trusting a few quiet and patient humans. He's getting better. show less
