Hi, I'm Bowie, a handsome mix of several breeds including cattle dog. My friends here at the SPCA got me from stray holding, so they don't have a lot of background information on things like if I like cats, or how well I do with other dogs but I have shown some interest in the other shelter dogs. I am a young, very energetic dog and love my outdoor time to run around in a fenced in yard. I also love getting petted once I have my zoomies out - and the shelter people love how soft my hair is. show less

I came from what the people here call "Stray Holding" so they do not know much about my life before I got here, like how I lost part of my leg or if I like dogs or kids or my favorite type of toy. Okay, I know I have some particular requirements that make it a smidge difficult for me to find my furever home, but c'mon people! I'm purrfect! Let's get the finicky parts over with: 1. NO PETS. No dogs or cats whatsoever. Not even a fish, unless it's being served to me on a raised dish. 2. I'm on a weight loss diet. The shelter is feeding me Hill's r/d (prescription weight loss food). They will give my adopter some to get them started. 3. I need Miralax everyday mixed in with my breakfast and dinner to keep me regular. This is absolutely non-negoitable. You can buy a tub at any local drug or grocery store for under $15 and it will last you a year. I am a SWEET girl, but if you displease me, I will be sure to let you know. I am not usually okay being picked up or touched on my hind end. I'm a lot of cat and until I lose weight, too much jostling around is uncomfortable. So, I'll hiss or swat if you don't listen to me. I like to have my sweet face rubbed, as well as by my ears. I like to lay/sit with my people and let them admire me. I love toys and keep them next to me at all times. I'm affectionate and lovely, and you should see me do my daily self care regiment of stretching, cleaning, and bathing. It's like a solar eclipse, you know you shouldn't stare, but you can't help it. show less

Queit, calm kitty looking for a quiet, calm home! Zooey is also a curious kitty who enjoys taking her time exploring new spaces and toys. She would love a nice window to watch out of, but not to go through - indoors only. We unfortunately do not know any background on Zooey, as she came into our care after being found alone in a building. Zooey hasn't been the biggest fan of other cats while here at the shelter, so she would do best as the only cat, or with a patient family willing to do very slow introductions. Zooey loves people and will often show her belly when they approach her space, but BEWARE! It's the tummy trap! She loves kicker toys, attention, and independent time. show less

This pretty pink-nosed gal is Skylar! She is around 6 years old, has the prettiest pigtails (ears) in town, and is looking for a home where she can snuggle, play, and snooze. Skylar finds herself at the SPCA of Hancock County due to no fault of her own and has handled this big transition like a champ. She tried to convince us that she was big and scary when she first arrived, but we saw right through the facade of a scared, nervous pup. She was reluctant to be touched by people she wasn’t familiar with, but once she realized we always come bearing treats and gentle hands, she got right on board! Now, Skylar’s favorite activities are snuggling on the couch with humans in the Real Life Room, getting really excited and doing zoomies, and then taking a nice long nap where she snores loudly. Skylar has been reactive to other animals while at the shelter and it would be best for her home to have her as the only pet, at least until a significant decompression period has passed. Skylar is a happy, silly, trusting dog when she has time to settle in; her perfect adopter is going to be happy to give her the time to adjust and create that bond. Meeting her in the shelter likely won’t be the fairytale “she chose me” moment… but you can still be her knight in shining armor! Skylar's perfect person will be willing to do several meet and greets to gain her trust and dedicate the time to make her feel safe. Skylar has some trust issues, like most of us, and needs time and patience to show her best self... which is a really great dog! show less

Bucky is looking for a special person that is gentle, quiet, and loving. Bucky came to the SPCA-HC in February and has been in a foster placement for a few months to help build his confidence. Bucky is shy and has been through a lot. He hisses, but he has never once even tried to bite or scratch someone, it's just a defense mechanism (he also has very few teeth left). Our nearly toothless little fellow LOVES churu. He is scared of most things, but he will happily slurp down endless Churu, and will even lick it straight off your fingers. Bucky enjoys head and chin scratchies and LOVES a good petting session! He has a little hitch in his step, likely due to a long-since sustained from when he was a stray. Bucky is looking for a quiet, calm home that will be okay with him not being a lap cat, but will also take the time to sit with him, feed him churu, and let him enjoy his senior years. show less

This means my adoption fee is $200 and then an additional $100 deposit must be put down that is fully refunded once I am brought back for my spay appointment.
