Hi, my name is Turtle. By nature, I'm a very skittish kitty - loud noises frighten me and I would be so much happier in a quiet home, maybe curled up on a lap! I am a very sweet girl, so much so that even when I'm scared, if I can see you're a nice person, I'm receptive to pets and chin scratches. I grew up in a home that just had too much activity for me; while I loved my mom a lot and enjoyed it when we could have one-on-one time together, I spent all my time hiding from the other cats and dogs. My mom made the hard choice to give me the chance to find a home I would be happier in, and so she entrusted me to the SPCA. They're actually quite nice here and have given me my own space and treats, and they promise to keep my mom updated once I find the perfect home. I would LOVE to go home with a couple that doesn't have other pets or kids, but I might also be okay with quiet dogs that don't pay any attention to me and don't bark when things happen outside. Other cats may stress me out but I have never shown signs of aggression, just a desire to have lots of quality one-on-one time with the humans I love. I don't mind older kids or quiet kids, but most kids like to be able to make noise and explore, and I'm just way too stressed out by that. I would much rather be with an older family that can pamper me and let me be the baby! Come meet me at the SPCA of Hancock County at 141 Bar Harbor Rd, Trenton, ME 04605! Hello, my name is Sweet Pea. When I first came to the SPCA in June, I was so scared and afraid of people, they thought I might be happiest as a barn cat. But now I actually remember that people aren't so bad, and I enjoy getting pets. It took time for me to settle in but it happened, and that means my future family just needs to have that same patience to let me settle into my new home. If my future family gives me a couple of weeks indoors so I can bond with them, then I would probably be happy as an outdoor/indoor cat, so if you're looking for someone to guard your property from mice and rodents, I'm your girl. I haven't really shown a need for a cat companion since I'm not actually feral, but I haven't also shown a dislike for other cats so it's possible I could co-exist with another cat. As for dogs and kids, well, I don't know, that's a maybe. If they give me space and time to acclimate, then I might get used to them. But a noisy home would not be my first choice. Something I love a lot is catnip! Some people think I love it TOO much! But really, how much is too much? It's not like I NEED it. I just ... I just want it! Gimme catnip! I hope you like the photos from my recent photoshoot, since they bring out my fluffy side, and maybe you can get an appointment to meet me and give me some CATNIP. Hey there. They call me Fritz. When my brothers and I were rescued and brought into foster, it seemed like it might have been a little too late to socialize us. I especially was hissy and would hide a lot, even from my foster mama. But I always came out when there was food, and I LOVE my brothers. Chips has since been adopted, but I'm bonded to my brother, Spitz, and so where he goes, I go. We can even do the naughty twin act of pretending to be the other because we look so alike! To be honest, now that I've been around humans for a little while, I've gotten a lot friendlier. I think I would be fine in a quiet home that gives me plenty of yummy food and playtime with my brother. My brother and I are NOT fans of dogs though. There was this dog in the lobby, and I stood up and arched my back. I was gonna show her whatfor! We might be fine with other cats, though, since we love each other so much. As for small children, we are still a bit skittish, so we would be happier with older kids or adults. I can't believe I'm gonna say it, you know, since I tried to convince everyone I was so feral and all that a little while ago, but I can't wait to find my own family with my brother!
