Hi! My name is Onyx and while I am a super shy cat, I am also super sweet once I get to know you. My sister, Raven, is the outgoing one, whereas I like to sit back and observe quietly first. I also am very athletic! I can climb just about anything, love playing with my sister Raven, and even love running on the cat-sized hampster wheel here at the SPCA. Because my confidence totally depends on my sister being nearby, we need to be adopted as a pair - but that just means more love and fun for you! I am more easily spooked than my sister and may not do well with rambunctious kids running around since I have a history of bad anxiety. I used to be so anxious, I was plucking out all of my fur! I had naked little chicken legs when I arrived at the shelter after my sister came here first. I missed her so badly! I still take once-daily anti-anxiety medication that really helps me calm down and not make myself a nakey little boy. That's something I'll need my future family to continue to administer to me. And although I don't run up for love like my sister, I do like people and really appreciate being given time to get to know you. Once we're friends, I like sitting by you and being petted but I maintain my independence and don't want to be a lap cat at this point. What I do love, besides my sister, are toys! I'm very particular about toys and know exactly which ones I want to play with, so seeing me find my favorite toys and playing with them is a real treat for the shelter staff! PS - We both were diagnosed with a genetic issue called megacolon when we were kittens. However, we recently learned that Raven was misdiagnosed and actually has intestinaly dysbiosis. My symptoms have been mostly controlled by medication, but the shelter thinks I may need to be re-evaluted to see if I was misdiagnosed as well. While we're not QUITE ready to be adopted yet because we've got these health questions lingering, we are both SUPER ready to know when we will go home in the future! So please consider filling out an application on us today - the best things in life come to those who wait! That's right - the best things are two awesome black cats!  show less

HI! My name is Raven and I am a SUPER smart cat who can open up pretty much any locked door in the shelter... or cabinet... or bin of cat treats... or anything I feel like sticking my head into! As a result, I make the humans here laugh all the time. I'm kinda the shelter clown. But don't let that deter you - the humans here have unfortunately figured out how to "Raven-proof" the place, so, it's possible to outsmart me, I guess. I am also super atheletic and absolutely love running on my cat-sized hampster wheel; check out my video! I also am totally bonded to my brother Onyx. He might be a bit shy, but I think he is the best brother. In addition to being a bit of a character, I also absolutely LOVE human affection - give me pets, and give them to me ALL the time. And don't you dare lock me out of the room you're in! I wanna be where the people are! So if you are looking for a super smart kitty who will make you laugh, please consider adopting me and my brother Onyx today. PS - I have a condition called intestinal dysbiosis, where my gut doesn't produce enough good bacteria. I've been managing my symptoms with a special die and probiotics. Things are much better now! If you want to learn more about my condition, this is what it is like in humans: https://microbiome.ferring.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw8rT8BRCbARIsALWiOvRf5RVpEUcKI2ivvETqAk7cyt-KgXvtoiyHR1VDRhzp5VLH8ow0SwgaAitvEALw_wcB and here is a link to information on stomach problems in animals and how it affects us: http://www.millikenanimalclinic.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/small_intestinal_dysbiosis.pdf Raven is one of the funniest sweetest cats here. She is endlessly entertaining, upbeat, and outgoing. She's one of the favorite long-term residents here. show less

Stella is a sweet and mellow cat with gorgeous long fur and a BEAUTIFUL purr! She sounds a bit like a chirping bird when she purrs, it's very unique. She likes human attention, being pet, and napping. She Stella first came to us last spring with her two brothers Odin and Oliver. All three were adopted but Stella was having issues in her new home; they had a wood stove which was causing some chronic upper respiratory and or allergy issues. While Stella will likely have off and on sneezing/cold symptoms for the remainder of her life (once a cat is exposed to an upper respiratory-causing virus it tends to live dormant in their system for the rest of their lives - most cats rarely get sick from it, but some have recurring "flare ups"), we think she needs a home without a wood stove and better air quality. She's currently finishing up some medication to knock out her current bout of sneezing, but she'll be ready very soon to go into what we hope is her third and final home. Stella is on the heavy side, so we recommend that she stick to a wet food only diet and not be allowed to "free feed" on dry food so that she looses some weight and stays at a healthy weight. Stella would be great in a home with or without other cats. She'd be fine with kids as well.  show less

If you're looking for a lap cat, have I got news for you - I love laps! I'm quite the snuggler and love cuddle time. Oh, I suppose I should introduce myself before I just snuggle up on you, huh? My name is Gracie. I'm a 10-year-old senior kitty who has QUITE the story to tell, and a lot of it is left to be told. So let's sit down, and I'll tell you all about me while you hold me, okay? I came to the SPCA feeling VERY sick. There was even a scare of how long I would last, since it was looking like I was in kidney failure. I was extremely thin and had a hard time putting on weight, and not feeling well made me grumpy. I just did not want people touching me so much, you know? I was so miserable! Then after so long on a special diet and trying some medicine, I started to feel more like my old self, and now I'm back to my lap cat lovebug self. I still need to put on more weight, and I'm being reassessed by a vet to check how my kidney levels are doing, since they clearly had been in some distress. Whether that was due to the neglect I experienced before coming here or something more, we have to find out. I would love more visitors but most of all, I would love to be in a home surrounded by people to love, so I hope my wish comes true, whether that means some wonderful person adopts me or decides to foster me! show less

"Hey there, I'm Alfie! I'm a young and crazy dog that just got to the shelter not too long ago. I went into foster but was too much for them so I came right back... I've had a lot of interest lately but I need a certain someone who understands Huskies and is patient and experienced with training dogs like me. I also need A LOT of exercise and energey outlets before any training will be super effective. They do the best they can for me here... but... I still have SO MUCH energy left!" Alfie is a very sweet boy, but he is still just a puppy at a year old! He has lots of energy and will need a home that can provide him with plenty of outlets to run. He is playful and still needs some pretty basic training, so he should not go so a home with young children as he is mouthy when he plays. When he gets frustrated (we recommend shorter training sessions and ending on a good note with him so he feels confident) he tries to bite his leash or chew on the edge of your coat. We are starting to muzzle train him to make sure he stays safe.  Alfie needs an experienced dog owner who understands his breed (Husky). Ideally, his new family or human would be a runner and or avid hiker to make sure he gets outside as often as he needs to. They will need to commit to some serious training for the first portion of his new life at home before the real fun starts and he can truly settle into a new forever home.  show less

So I know I'm not really most people's first pick - seems like a lot of people want puppies or young dogs - but just hear me out for a second, please, especially if you're looking to really, truly rescue a dog. I'm a really good boy with plenty of energy who loves long walks, and I'm a good boy on a leash too. I'm also already housebroken and will bark to let you know when I need to go out - no need to go through extra training with me! That's the benefit of a sweet older dog: I already know how to mind my manners! I am a little shy at first, and in the shelter with so many other dogs around me while I'm trapped in a kennel, well, I can be pretty barky when you first meet me. But give me a chance during an outside meet-and-greet where I can roam around and take my time to get to know you, and I warm up real quickly to you. Men, women, I have no preference, I just love humans that love me back! I haven't revealed how I am with small kids yet, but the humans are thinking 8 years and up for me. It's hard to test these things in COVID times at the shelter but I don't come with a bite history or anything. What I do come with is diabetes. Yeah. I was surrendered at a veterinary office, so I can only speculate that my former family wasn't prepared to handle that expense. Daily insulin isn't the worst thing, but it does scare some people off. So I try to be super good about taking my insulin shots to make them feel better about it! Then getting treatment helps me feel good and ready for long play sessions, so I don't even feel like I have a health problem. As far as things I don't like, well, there is one ... other dogs! I'm okay at a dog park or on walks, but I don't want to have to live with another dog. They stress me out. So that's a little spiel on me. I hope you'll give me a chance and ask about me soon! I'm a really good boy who can't wait to have a new home! show less
